As you say "some are bigger gambles than others".

It might be easy to figure out that i don't really rate the lad.
Kenny may though. In fact Wickhams goalscoring record is very similar to Shearers before Kenny transformed into the striker he became. Wickhams much younger though.
I'd hope he does if we are interested in this lad Sunny, and if we do sign him hopefully it'll be money well spent. I've seen him a few times, i just don't see what all the fuss is about personally.

Agree #LFC did well to get Henderson done early, but momentum fading. Jones, Young+(maybe) Wickham lost. It's very, well, very Liverpool.

What he said.

Christ, 'momentum fading', they're the only team in the Premiership that's bought big apart from us and they're the league Champions and CL runners up. There's a difference, it's not because we dragged our feet, it's because they obviously had more to offer.

And my little one.

Not fussed to be honest. From what I've seen of him (admittedly not much), Wickham seems to be mostly just physically more developed than his peers, rather than possessing some kind of brilliant technical ability or footballing brain. Any physical advantage he has now will disappear as soon as he moves to PL. 13 million is way too big of a risk, I'm glad we are not matching Sunderland's offer.

The only persons tweets worth reading re Liverpool is Tony Barrett.
But he rarely tweets anything interesting...it's almost always some banter with colleagues and friends.

We're not losing out on him if we havent matched Sunderlands bid, he's not chosing them over us.

Henderson was 13 mill with 3 mill in add ons confirmed by Comolli. Thats not to bad a deal imho.
Stoke just bid 16 mill for Dann and Jerome ffs, the market has gone crazy.

Where did you hear that mate?
Can't see why we need to splash 10+M on a player who will play no more than Ngog or Jovanovic.
Because he's a lot better?

Still ridiculous money though, the market is mental.

He'd be the 4th choice behind Caroll, Suarez and Kuyt though. Won't complaint if we're really loaded though.

If Sunderland buy him for 13M or whatever odd, it's an absolute guarantee that in 3 years time he'll be sold to us/United/Chelsea/City for at least twice that.

That's the way it works.

I've only ever seen Youtube clips but that's pretty much how I see him too.

Exactly.

I havnt seen him play much, just youtubia etc but surely hes better than Noggin N'gog?

Sorry what i mean is, apparantly Sunderland are only paying 8m plus add ons.
We could probably get 3-6m for wash, so youre looking at just a couple of million outlay to actually improve us as a squad as opposed to the 18m for Downing.

In the current market it is a good move by Sunderland. if he turns out good they will double + their money, and if he aint that goood they will get their money back anyway.

So far all thats happened is the clubs have agreed a fee. The player hasnt agreed terms or had a medical yet. If we really want him we will get him. If he signs for Sunderland it means we didnt want him in the first place.

Quality over quantity, mate.

Except that he's the one who put his neck on the block with that "story" about the Chinese govt.investing in LFC.

Spot on 100%. If he's knocking the goals in and looking the part, we'll be thinking why the hell did we not fork out the extra few million for him? He's reportedly keen on joining us as well.

Not going to lie i'm really pissed off about this. Sunderland are paying £9 million up front for him with a extra few million in installments...it's hardly a crazy fee when you look at the market.

Disappointed.

Have you read Brian Reade's book? He had good reason to at the time, & had they acted more quickly he wouldve been spot on.

It's a sure thing...

Liverpool are reportedly interested in Manchester City ace James Milner.

Rumours have emerged that the 25-year-old midfielder is unsettled at Eastlands.

It is understood that Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is keeping tabs on the situation with a view to making a possible bid for the England international

Oh you are thinking about tippy toe CR7?

If we could genuinely get Milner for say £20m we should go all out for him. I'm a massive fan and he'd improve our first 11 no end.

Can't see it happening, Citeh would be mad to sell him .
