Connor Wickham

If he hasn't signed for us it's simply a case of us not willing to pay the price Sunderland have offered. Some people moan about us paying too much for the likes of Henderson (who's played in the EPL) yet think we should pay it for a different player from the Championship. It seems sometimes it's a case of fucked if you do and fucked if you don't.

suarez, carroll, kuyt

is more than enough strikers. if we need back up for those 3 use morgan who is tearing shit up in the reserves.
[/quote]

We still need another I think. Suarez likes to be everywhere and while he's creative and a joy to watch, he's not really the natural goalscorer we've been used to, while Kuyt and Carroll are centre forwards rather than strikers (who will both get a fair amount of goals, but still).

3 is enough, I really don't want kuyt utilised at right midfield next season therefore we have 3 strikers for 2 positions.

We just signed a massive tall young English blert abaa five months ago. Glad we've not got another one. If we chased him then it would just confirm that most of our football next season is gonna be 'twat it up there to the big prick' type footie an not tippy tappy bellend footie. I hope were going for half an half with curry an a sausage.

if we wanted him but woudn't pay 8 mill then it's a bit of a concern.

Rubbish.

Will they still be taking Egg Nog?

I'd say it looks unlikely.

The full price is on a par with Walcotts deal - for a guy who has had less influence on his side, less impact in the league, more injuries and who displays less natural talent.

Let me ask you a question: if the price is right for a lad of this talent, where are Man City, Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea in the bidding?

Nowhere.

Panic buy, by a shit club, with one striker, who have a wedge burning a hole in their pockets, and the selling club knows it.

I actually agree that maybe it would have been better to get in a striker like Wickham instead of another midfielder like Henderson particularly as we seem to have maintained the hard-on for Adam and The Aquifanny Chronicles still continue.

Though the reasons for not getting him clearly aren't related to saving a few million.

Not when we've clearly shown a willingness to hugely overpay for potential.

3 strikers is enough to get through a season is it? When one of them can clearly only play with a partner (Carroll) and if the partner is Kuyt then we're bereft of any pace. Seriously? We need someone to provide something a little different and as backup if we lose a player. Suarez would become very, very important if we've only got the three of them.

One thing to note as well is that Man Utds financial year ends tomorrow so the fact they have been snapping up players before this date may be due to the fact they'll pay less tax (so I'm led to believe)

Made me lol, but yeah you're absolutely right

After spending £35m on Carroll, I'd be amazed if we weren't prepared to spend a few mil more than we'd anticipated on Wickham.

I'm not particularly arsed about missing out on him and I doubt Kenny is. IF we really wanted him, we'd have had him before Henderson.

According to Skytext (and I presume a number of other news outlets), he has a clause in his contract that will make him available to bigger clubs next summer.

Makes you wonder how much corruption there can be between clubs if certain clubs go into unofficial agreements with others, ie in this case Sunderland with United. That would obviously be dependant on Fathead keeping his job, but anyway..

That's definitely one way of looking at it, the other is that Wickham didn't want to sit on the bench for a year and decided to move to a club that guaranteed him first team football with the option of moving to a bigger club if he succeeded in the prem.

Hope its the latter.

We've obviously passed on the kid. We'd be willing to pay 8m - in this case, in Kennoli we trust

Worth it from Sunderland's point of view. If he's crap, they'll get half that back. If he's good, they'll make at least 3 times that when they cash in. From us probably.
