He's far, far better than N'gog ever was and both more skilful and more versatile than Origi (whom I loved, as I suspect most of us did). I don't expect him to become a first team regular, but winning squads need squaddies too and he's easily good enough for that role.
Yeah, he's worth a squad place, and can do a job. Perhaps better than those two, but hard to really know at this point. But he's much closer to their level, than he is to Isak, Ekitike etc. He's a player to come on for 20 minutes, play in Cups or if we have a disaster with injuries. That's important too, and as you say, we need players like him around.
Then in the 2nd half when Isak and Alexis tire and need to be subbed, bring fresh impetus and quality with Wirtz, Gakpo and Frimpong for @Bradley .
For me, this is one of the key games of the early part of the season. Glasner's Palace are a proper bogey team - but if we manage to continue our winning run there, we should more or less sail through the rest of the October fixtures before the big tests of Madrid and City away come in early November.
Slot may field Szobo in RB to counter the physical game the likes of Mateta thrives on. We should lock out all crosses in the box coming from the wings relying on Szobo and Kerkez. Macca, Gravy and Wirtz should boss the mid. Its only fair that we come out with 3 solid points from Selhurst.
