Isn't YNWA for You're Not Worthy Andy?

If Agger goes i'll actually be devastated. He symbolises what I want Liverpool Football Club to be. He is assured, very gifted and has that drive to take the game to the opponent that a lot of our players in recent times have missed.

I'd call it acceptable rather than outright good, especially when you consider what they paid for Worf and others in that squad.

There's very little chance he'll even want to join another Premier League club. Not only has he said so himself a handful of times but that latest tattoo addition of his kind of indicates where his allegiance lies don't you think?

Can't believe posters still would prefer the money to be honest. Ah well, we can't all agree.

He's a beast of a man and player, but if the money is good then we can't argue really. We need to rebuild if we want to compete.

It's stupid and reckless. I know he's had his injuries, but have we learned nothing about 'taking the money'? Many of the people advocating this are by the same token moaning all the time about how we let the likes of Mascherano and Alonso leave, we'll feel exactly the same way a few months down the line unless Rodgers can magic a few top players from about £20m. I'm not doubting his abilities but he's young and inexperienced at this level, it's a big risk. Of course we have to let him build his own team but we shouldn't be making him sell to buy, not one of our only few prized assets anyway, no way should his hand be forced over Reina, Gerrard, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson or Suarez.

Liverpool's losing battle for cultured Dane Agger confirms the decline and fall of a football empire, writes concerned fan.

Dude, why did you have to post that?
I love Agger, 27m is a lot of money but so was the money we got for Alonso, it didn't make me us any happier. I would love to keep Agger regardless of his contract situation and see how it goes, everyone has a price but seriously, we are 8th placed team and in a delusional money driven football world, we should keep the players who have given everything to us. He's not always been fit but I admire his loyalty, would be nice if we kept him personally regardless of money.

If he does go, I'd hope that the money *isn't* used to buy another defender. It would be a good chance to get Kelly or Coates to step up with Agger and it could actually be put towards a superstar signing, if it is even possible to make a superstar signing when you are gunning for top 6!

I don't think there are that many of us who would actually prefer the money TBF - and no, before you ask, I'm not one of those who would. Most of us (though you wouldn't know it from the way some manage their teams on Xpert Eleven!) are aware that players win things, not money. I do think it's fair, though, to say that it need not be the end of the world if we were to end up selling, as long as the fee is right AND it's used wisely.

I agree mate it wouldn't be the end of the world and as we all know who knows when and how bad he'll be injured again, and then we'd all be like, good we cashed in.

But as Mark said it would somehow add the our decline over the past five years where we've seen the likes of Alonso, Masher and Torres depart, players at the top of their game and some of the best in the world in their respective positions. Same could be said of Agger imo.

It is SOOOO difficult to find these players let alone keep hold of them so we probably should change our strategy a bit and at least keep the ones that don't want out themselves. There's no need for us to actually actively push players of the highest standard out as there are very little chance that we'll find someone better for the money gained anytime soon.

Just look at how we've "managed" to replace the Alonsos, Mashers and Torres' so far.

I have a problem with that idea - we have been hurt twice in the past with such behaviour (McMonyman and Owen) - if you love the club that much then sign up a new contract and commit, otherwise you need to show love for the club by moving on and getting that club some money in. Personally I think we should sell for £20M - regardless of how he feels but we should not go down that road where we lose millions in transfer fees by letting him run down his contract coz I guarantee that come next season (and if we have not made any progress - which is likely) he will want to go and his valuation by other clubs will be £7-9M max, and we will need more than that to get us out of the financial shit we would be in by not qualifying for the CL.

So its ok for us to sell him regardless of how he feels but he's meant to commit to us while not knowing what the future holds?! Im sure loads of players would love to come join us if that was how we were seen to treat them. He's still contracted to us which is what both parties committed to originally, so we can tell city to piss off if we want. We can even accept the fee and Agger can tell city to piss off if he wants. And saying someone should show love for the club by moving on and getting that club some money in, thats just you suiting yourself.

We were getting Luis anyway though, we didn't do that well really. We bought Carroll and then put the rest towards our fantastic Summer.
If we only had Luis when all of these guys were still here:
Torres, Kuyt, Alonso and Mascherano.

So does the story go that we keep Agger, everybody is really happy because he's a great player. Then he plays a game or two and gets crocked for the season.
