Up for a better title name.
He has contract extension on the table, before this game I was keen to see him go, however 12 goals and 7 assists is decent return. I beginning to change my mind and hope he signs the extension now.

He's had a very good season for us and he's one of the reasons we won the League.

However, he's a bit of flat track bully and we could do better maybe? If he pushed to go I would be okay with it. If he decides to stay, same.

I've always wanted to keep him, provided he wants to stay. He deserves a decent contract and, while his output could improve, it will become less of an issue if we successfully address the striker position this summer. Díaz has had a decent season, and what I like most is that you know he will give everything he has on the pitch, week in, week out, and be fit and available. Those qualities are often underappreciated, yet they are fundamental to winning leagues.

Barcelona are a very desirable team to play for right now, and he has seemingly always wanted to go there. That’s my only caveat. If he is determined to leave, then he is not irreplaceable, but it would require careful thought.

There's a lot to like with Diaz and I've been a fan of his since the beginning, I don't tie my mind in knots and going down that nonsensical route of which LW's at the club he has or hasn't been better than - bore off with that shit.

With that said I'm always looking 2-3 seasons ahead into the future and the money for a rebuild needs to come from somewhere so if Barca want to entertain 50-60m offers, or a straight swap for Yamal and Pedri to keep it simple.....I'd be more than ok with that.

I know Nunez regressed but alot of you gave him flack but he had 33GAs last season. Diaz will not reach those numbers. Anyways, there aren't too many great LWs out there within a reasonable price so if he stayed I would be okay with

Not from the wider role though. We need to be comparing Diaz more to the likes of Doku, Gordon, Saka, etc. I don't have the data but I'm pretty sure he'll stack up pretty well against most wingers in the league, albeit playing for the best team currently.

When we are looking for a game winner, Diaz is never the answer.

2 tap-ins and almost non-existant contribution for the rest of the games in our run-in. Cody's goal yesterday was something we have not seen from Diaz, that he why he has rightfully replaced Diaz in our starting lineup.

Yes, he works hard and runs alot, as he had always done for the last 4 seasons, there is no denying that. But the quality is missing and there is no denying this as well.

We can keep him, sure, but as a squad player. I don't think we should give him a big contract because he is not good enough. With no new contract, he is going to leave on a free, so if we can get some $$ for him this season I will rather sell.

I have no clue why some people still think he is good enough for us.. have you guys watched the games? For the last 4 seasons? He will struggle to get a highlight reel going.

He was frustrating for a large part of this season, but he started well and finished well, just when we really needed him. I'm with Tinto, if the offer is right then I won't be devastated to see him go, but I wouldn't be unhappy if he stayed either. I don't think we should make wholesale changes that might upset the balance. I'd be pretty upset if Elliott and Endo leave, FWIW, but I think Endo will go. Nunez is gone, Jota probably should be too.

I'm hoping really it's just Nunez, Kelleher and Jota who go, but I'm sure there's a case for Endo, Elliott, Gomez, Kostas and a couple of others leaving for the right offer.

Because he just helped us win the league. He’s been our best attacker in the run in. He’s going to finish in the top five in SCM’s Player of the Season.

No clue what you’re watching.

I don't think he's good enough. He's a very good player on his day, but he's not consistent or strong enough for me. He's arguably our most sellable asset, and for that reason I'm ok with him going. If he didn't go, I wouldn't mind

There are pros & cons to Diaz. He has done most of his good work this season when deployed as our makeshift CF and with our team, you'd expect him to be getting plenty of chances.

One thing he brings that I don't think any other forward has is the ability to run at, and beat, a defender. So this can be a great asset against a low block. With a new LB next season this might become more potent.

What concerns me is that I think Gakpo's ceiling as a LW is higher, and renewing Diaz limits Gakpo's starts. At least this would be the case if we do sign another CF. I can't see Diaz being happy to be a sub too frequently.

Tough one to consider, but he's been very good for us this season when you zoom out and consider his contributions.

If you hadn't been paying attention, he lost his place to Gak. He was playing as a 9 because Jots was out and Nunez was crap.

When Gak got injured and he got to play on the left, we got duly knocked out of the CL and lost the league cup with him producing fuck all, as he has always done when it comes to the crunch.

I agree with all of that, and Nunez's regression in my view is partly down to Slot not playing him in the next game when he did well in the previous game, and also other players not even bothering to pass to him.

As for Diaz - we have to admit that he is one of the best left wingers in world football, there are not many (if any) that do the numbers he has done for us. I just don't like how he goes missing in games that we need him, in fact that is the biggest issue isn't it ? - those couple of months where we went out of all the cups - we really needed him to do the business and he did not.

I take SCM’s top five rating over one person who’s quite obviously biased and irrational.

Yeah, he wasn’t good in the cups but in the league matches around that time, he was very good.

Haha, sure, though I am not sure what was inaccurate about what I have said.

As for winning the league, I will have Kell, Alisson, Virgil, Ibou, Macca, Grav, Salah, Gak, Trent as our most important players. Even Nunez had more crucial moments than Diaz.

Squad player AT BEST.

Rotating between Diaz and Gakpo on the left just helped us win the league.

I don’t think either are good enough to replace Mane but they can reproduce Mane’s numbers in the aggregate

Regardless, there is no need for personal attacks. We have had 4 seasons to judge the enigma that is Luis Diaz. If you think he is good enough to start for us week in week out then be it.

From actual evidence it seems Slot does not rate him as highly as many of you do so we shall see next season. My best guess is nobody will come in for him so we are stuck with him whether I like it or not.

Beyond Salah and maybe Gakpo, does Slot rate any of our attackers? Has Jota scored a goal after coming back from injury?

Saying someone is biased or irrational over a player isn’t a personal attack because everyone will feel that way about one player or another. That’s just football.

I am not calling him out for no reason though. I gave my reasons but you decided I am "biased and irrational" so I am not sure how to take it otherwise.
