Diogo Jota - died in car crash RIP

Hoping things get better Mark and sorry to hear, esp with burying your best mate.
Felt in a mental spiral over the past few months and only way to get through it is the love of family and friends
Oh mate, take care of yourself, speak to your family and friends x

The only crumbs of comfort from any of this is that was in a beautiful space both personally and professionally. Recently married to his beautiful childhood sweetheart, scoring a winner against Everton, winning the title at Liverpool, being part of the parade, winning a trophy with Portugal since then, spending time his brother and family shortly before, and he will have accumulated enough wealth for his family to be safe and secure.

I suspect and hope he has had an immensely happy last few months and years on this earth. He could not have wrote it much better.

Unbelievable news just as we're all feeling positive and looking forward to the new season, like he was with his marriage and family. Life is so fleeting.

Thank you Diogo for all the good memories. I sincerely hope that your wife and kids have good people around to support them and can find a way to bear the pain.

The club should also pay out his contract to his wife and children in full or staggered over a period, whatever is easier for them. He had two years remaining and would total something like £15M. Sizable money, but given the goals he's scored, and even with the injuries, few would be quibbling he hasn't been worth £60M signing compared to a £45M one. Without knowing the legalities, it would be the sort of decent move I'd expect from this club.

Might seem insensitive to say but don't the club have some kind of insurance that covers tragic events like this.

I'm guessing the club is insured for things like this (sure Beamrider can tell us) and so yeah, I would expect the club to do right by Jota's family as much as possible.

Hopefully we weren't engaged in trying to sell him beforehand so Liverpool still feels like "home" in some respects, though I'm sure the fans the will make it feel like that regardless.

Don't really want to talk about the financial aspects if you don't mind, we should keep to the human factors here. I'm sure that between the club, any insurance he held and the FA pension scheme, his family will be looked after financially, but it won't bring him back, obviously.
For now, his friends and family have lost someone they loved and we've lost a hero, who was also my favourite shithouse (which I totally mean in a positive way).

Good of them to do that. Credit where it's due.
