Diogo Jota - died in car crash RIP

They'll presumable be a 2 minute silence and a black arm bands, but I agree it doesn't feel enough for the fans. The players will surely have their own private ceremony for some closure.

Tyres can wear out in a supercar after 6000-12000 miles depending on the driving style and power going through them. Normal cars are between 25000 and 50000. These cars are going to go between 2-4x more tyres over their lifetime and I guess one or two missed services and you're in a danger zone. Presumable the car is registered in Spain/Portugal and MOTs are every 2 years in both, meaning these high performance cars could get pretty risky within that time frame, especially around a windy mountain road. Heat may have been a factor given the heatwave around Europe, but at 12/1AM I would have thought the road would have cooled down.
Is there any way of finding out when the vehicle was last serviced.

I think I read somewhere here, someone was lamenting how Jota had just scored the last minute winner, and his celebration was muted (instead of going crazy with excitement). I think that is just the kind of person he is, calm, thoughtful and measured.

Ironically, it has become his most iconic goal celebration and will be celebrated over and over again all across the world and rightly so.

Eh...have you seen the Leicester celebration? 😅

I wish we'd got to see the Baby Shark celebration again. With all the macho crap in football it was so down to earth and fun and really made me smile.

People mentioned Diaz not being there - and I remember reading Mo and Jota were very close ... and was surprised not to see him in the photos I saw ... Maybe there photos I missed.
I dont think anyone has an issue with players not being there. The funeral was 2 days after the crash. Hard to get there from other continents.

People have an issue with Diaz partying rather than keeping his head low for 1 day.

The partying pictures were from 2022.

Was mo at the funeral? I didn't see him in photos
I think there is a bigger issue for him, muslims are actually not allowed to attend the actual funeral of non-muslims ( it is a Islamic directive), they are supposed to stand up and show respect during the funeral procession for Christian/Jews. So it would be a bit awkward for him to attend to stand by as the coffin is taken for burial but not go to the actual Church ceremony etc.

However from Mo's tweet I think he is taking this very very hard and the fact that he mentioned being fearful of returning knowing that Jota will not be there kind of explains the depth of feeling he is experiencing.

did ibou not go to the funeral though?

i’m just saying that in relation to being a muslim, no criticism of mo or anyone else that didn’t go. everyone has their own commitments/feelings/beliefs and ways of handling things.
