I voted no.

They have more out and out match winners than we do. Thats why im upset at how we spent our money....

At the same time we will finish above them because they are cunts and im an optimistic type.

I put down 'No' - not because every player in their team is better than us but more because the way they play and the pace of their players seems more aggressive and sure.

Think it's unfair to compare our style of play with Spurs when we're integrating 4 or 5 new players into the team at the same time.

Not to mention the fact that Gerrard will make a return to the starting 11 before long so it's almost impossible to say what style of play Kenny, Clarke and co will adopt when we have our players fit and the new ones properly settled in.

I'd agree, they have more pace and aggression but that's mainly through Bale raiding down their left. Most of their offensive game comes through him.

We have a better squad; which is more important than "first 11" or "team".

i thought they were pretty average yesterday but they still carried a threat and obviously won . That's one thing about us that's driven me mad for years , if we have a bad game then we look so,so bad style wise , can't string a few passes together . Spurs play much nicer football than us so even on bad days they look like they can play .

I'd say they have a slightly better team than us , especially midfield wise ...but if you were to ask me who would i like to buy from them to really improve us then I guess it would be mainly Modric & Bale with van der vaart , Parker , lennon and Ade (yeah i know he's city's ) just behind them .

I think their strength over us is just in pace, they've got it in abundance all over the park, which is always a threat. You have to look at the way they generally play in the big games though, especially against United where they ALWAYS just role over and die. I don't think they're as tactically astute, they certainly don't have a Plan B and inevitably get found out at some point during the season, especially when Defoe has his annual barren spell. Adebayor is a great player, but you can imagine he'll kick up a stink sooner of later.

What pissed me off about yesterday was that they battered Arsenal in the first half in much the same way as they battered us. I think they're ace when they play like that and us being 1-0 down to them was fair enough. But they went quiet in the 2nd half, so it's not like they can sustain it - and if we'd have had enough men on the park, we could have got a point.

I think arsenal dominated the majority of the match and but for piss poor finishing would and should have had at least a point.

Yeah, it's pretty even and I expect that to be reflected at the end of the season.

They are not anywhere close to our commercial potential. The fact they have a squad close to ours is simply down to our own underinvestment in 2008-2011. I expect that to change shortly

Their squad probably cost far less than ours plus their wage bill is lower.

I think that it's more a case of them getting better value for money out of their players right now as opposed to under investment on our part. We invested fairly heavily in players like Aquilani and Cole. Didnt do us much good.

Team yes, squad no.
Arguably the other way about. They definitely don't have a better squad than us.

A team made of Spurs and L'pool players, would look something like this in my view:

Reina
Kelly Carra King Enrique
Gerrard Lucas Modric Bale
Suarez Defoe

It'd be interesting to see how neutral fans would pick a team. I bet it generally would include more Spurs players.

That's about right.

BTW they have a better team and squad than us.

i'm inclined to completely agree

Our own personal bias gets in the way too much for it to be completely truthful on here tbh.

I think the only liverpool players the neutral would pick to get into the spurs side would be gerrard, pepe and suarez.

I think most people would still pick johnson. He seems to still be a bit rated and kelly and walker haven't established themselves properly yet across the nation

I think it's about even.
I'd go along with that.

I'm not convinced that we have a better squad nor a better first 11 but I think we have two key individuals in Gerrard and Suarez in the right places. Individually they look better to me but I think the sum or our parts is greater and we'll finish ahead of them comfortably.

I am.

That's the bottom line.

Also, you honestly thought Arsenal dominated that match? ???

I guess we'll find the real answer to this question at seasons end won't we?

I thought arsenal dominated possession but spurs finished their chances. the VDV goal (imho) was scored against the run of play.

Not sure about who's better but I always feel despite the defeat against Spurs, we have more in locker interms whats to come.
We have made an OK start but are capable of so much more interms of a fully fit Gerrard, Johnson and Agger to come back while Spurs are probably playing as well as they could right now. The max they can prob finish is 4th, while we may finish 7th but could also finish any where in the top 4 if we gain some consistency. We are more of an unknown quantity than Spurs I reckon and have more space for improvement.
