Szob has outperformed this team for a year now. He's consistently our best midfielder, tying him up now isn't just about getting better value for him, it's about him being here for the best years of his career. I assumed he'd be off so would be delighted if he stayed. Of course we want more goals etc from him but he's just coming into his peak years and I don't see many if any better than him in the league.
He's getting trotted out to speak to the press a lot recently, so I can see the long term plan happening
I can also see him at Madrid or Bayern too though.
With Robbo almost certainly leaving in the summer, vice capt role will be up for grabs.
I personally would like to see Dom, be passed that role. There *might* be some internal politics which could make that decision more challenging with a contract renewal for MacAllister as he currently features within the existing leadership group.
The clubs vision for MacAllister will drive that, after all we may be willing to cash in on him if a large offer came in, to recycle the balance of midfield and bring in a more specialist defensive minded midfielder.

Agreed. No-one in that dressing room will be questioning Virgil’s status as captain. His performance levels may be dropping off a bit but his leadership is beyond question. The man is a don.

We fucked every contract with the deals we handed out over the last 12 months. Others want some sort of parity.
