Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he a bit shit at crossing or finding players in the box.

I mean he does well to get into the right position, he's quick, great in defence but the service he provides the attackers when he moves up is pretty much dire.

When he's supposed to cross it high, he plays it low or over hits it.
When he's supposed to play it low, it doesn't get passed the first man. The same could be said about Downing.

Enrique deserves his spot in the starting XI, there's no arguing that, but we need some kind of attacking outlet from that flank.
That's the reason I kept harping about playing Aurelio instead of Downing. Sure he's probably unfit, but he can really ping them in. If we need quality crossing from the left, he's the man.
It might be short term solution but anything is better than Downing atm.

I'm not sure he's the least of our worries but he's nowhere near the top. His crossing is pretty poor though, by the same token, that's not the criticism to lay at Downings door; the number of times he's laid it on a plate for Carroll and Kuyt is outrageous - some of his crosses have been absolute pin-point.


Aurelio, however, is not the solution.

Actually it was going nowhere near Kuyt until it hit a defender and bounced up into Dirks path. Should have scored.

True, i was just picking on Kuyt again!
 
the problem with people crossing into the box has been the game for pretty much a decade, the resason why manu look so effective with crosses and we look so piss poor is because they load the box and we do not. it really is as simple as that, so they can float in a 'percentage ball' to devestating effect whilst our crosses has to be INCH PERFECT to meet the lone attacker waiting to meet it.

look at kuyt's missed sitter for example, there is no other liverpool player anywhere near him.

I think if you are going over the problems of the team, the defenders should be way down that list. they are keeping clean sheets, contributing to attacking play and some of them have scored equal or more than the attackers. if the attackers were as effective you suspect we'd be higher than 6th.
 
He's utterly solved a problem we've had since Riise left. He's ace. He does look a chromosome short of a sixpence but he's in a tiny minority in our club of being someone I wouldn't replace with anyone else.

Those of you criticising him are either mad or on a wind up.
 
for the first time in a long time I have absolutely no problems with the defense.
the whole defense are comfortable on the ball.
the whole defense are pretty quick.
the defense is capable of holding a high line or dropping deep to soak up pressure.
they are equally adapt at defending intricate through balls as they are at defending set peices and aerial attacks.
the fullback provide width.

what's to complain about. despite all our woes the defense gets a definate 'pass'.

I wouldn't swap any our 1st choice back four at the moment. Enrique is one of, if not the best in the league at LB. Behave.

No, just that it was a minor injury and that they wanted to be careful. Wasnt training on friday either.
