Post Match EPL Bournemouth (A) 3-2 January 24th

Please don't tell me you thought Salah had a good game because he rolled into a player who smashed into the goal?
I didn’t think he can a good game but I did think his creativity helped create the room for Dom to score.

I’m glad he’s back and contributing to goals again. Hopefully he can start scoring now too.

We played 20 league games from New Year’s Day till the end of the season. How many did we win?

There’s two more defeats I should add to it.

We ended up winning fewer than half our games across all competitions. We had 10 wins in the league.

13 months. Fuck off. You don’t hold onto a lead in the PL table if your shit from Jan to May. You just don’t.

Did you watch us Jan to May? Or just the results, which even then were good not great.

The performances, the level of focus & concentration, the desire to fight for every point has been shite.

I was worried we would love this and the place would implode again after a great CL away performance.

Terrible to lose Gomez.

Great from Dom.

Slot needs a win next time out in the league.

Nice creativity for the assist by Salah.

Why does Slot “need a win”?

Tbf I would say ya 12-13 months would be about right.. He's not talking about results but preformances..
I know results are the bread and butter but they do show signs, we were getting results but games were closer than they should have been where we relied a bit to much on Ali to save us holding on to a lead or pulling off a big save at 0-0..
We generally deserved to win most games but there weren't many good preformances..
This season unity of the team that Klopp had put together has changed and that has damaged the squad and now the holes in slots tactics are showing up..
The lack of creativity was there 12-13 months ago, some of us bitched about it at the time but the majority didn't listen as they didn't see past the result.. It seemed every week we'd hear " winning while playing bad is the sign of champions" which is a true statement but we would hear this every week and the preformances would be forgotten, so don't take the piss when someone says this type of preformance have been around for 12 months because they have, you've just watched us with blinkers

Yes I watched every minute and desire, fight and concentration can not be absent to win a league title.

Stop talking rubbish and digging a hole.

You said we were shite and now say results were good not great.

We’ve been poor this season, no doubt about it and there a host of reasons for that but trying to claim we were shite for the second half of last season is revisionism at its worst.

It’s like you haven’t lived through 29/30 years where our second half of the season wasn’t good enough.

We were by far the best side in the league last season and won it comfortably. You don’t do that by being shite for 5 months.

We have been playing shit football, almost universally, for a year. There's no debating it.

As for "anything after we won the league was immaterial" - it's a load of bullshit. It sets the tone for the next season. And how has that turned out? We've been fucking horrendous.

Aside from the first 5 games where we basically threw everyone up top and hoped for the best and scraped some points, this is our record...

Played 18
Won 5
Drawn 6
Lost 7

If you're still backing this manager despite us being absolutely shite for the majority of the time he's been here, then you don't know football. Sorry.

Even if he somehow fluked the Champions League - which he won't - the long term trend is strongly suggesting that he will have us as a midtable side.

Sack. Him.

Before it's too late and we have to rebuild from scratch again. We basically have to rebuild our attack and defence as it is anyway. It'll be easier to do that if we're still in the Champions League at least. We'll be about 9th next week.

So I don’t have to listen to the most negative one sided forum gleefully create another sack watch thread. This place lacks any sort of rationale balance at the best of times but fuck me this season takes the cake.
You are one of the happy clappers. Go look across the social media fans we have. They’ve had enough too. I wonder what the Anfield wankers, or TIA or whatever other fan podcasts are saying too.

If you want to surround yourself with others living with the fairies you may want to go elsewhere.

This is you this season.

This Is Fine GIF

There were boos at Anfield after Burnley. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen that happen in my lifetime.

If you still want this fella at the club, you're a delusional, contrarian retard with no clue about the game, or you're an Excel spreadsheet data virgin. Pick your poison.

In a perfect world it should have been done at the end of the run results around Christmas, but I had sympathy with the owners in that a) he was parading a league title 7 months earlier and b) no obvious replacement. But now with Alonso available and, what we can only call moderate improvements since that time, it's more than time to make the call. I did expect some bumps in the road when we hired him because his credentials weren't exactly elite, but he was meant to have all the core qualities to become one, whilst not ripping up everything that made us successful before. Failed on both counts.

He may well become a top coach in the future. Sackings can prompt reflection, change and growth, but if someone hasnt got the core ingredients to do the job in the here and now then I just don't see the point in drifting. I do think he's been dealt a had hand in someways. VVD and Salahs drop off isn't far that year Hendo, Fabinho and Wijnaldum turned into pensioners over a summer and fuck knows how involvement Slot had in the signings. But I'm kinda past caring. He ain't it.

Don't forget everyone, he watched it in high definition!

Yes the trend of Slot having us as 1st for majority of his time here and top 4 almost exclusively even with all of our injuries and transition issues points to us being a mid table side. If that’s what knowing football means then I’m glad I don’t.

We don’t have to rebuild our attack at all. We have Wirtz, Hugo, Isak. We need additions. Defence Virgil has a couple of years left but we need another CB at least. Full backs we have. Midfield is relatively strong but like all teams could do with additions.

If we do win the CL it won’t be fluked it’ll be an indication we are building a strong team for the future and on the right track.

“Arne Slot says Milos Kerkez substitution was not injured but he was in the 'red zone' and at risk of an injury so needed to come off either at HT or 60mins.”

So the obvious thing to do in the coming week is to sell Robertson.

We need to buy loads in the next 18 months.

GK
LB
RB
CB x3
DM
CM
RW x2
LW possibly x2

I don't know why I'm bothering, but...

18 games. 5 wins. 6 draws. 7 losses.

Shit football for a year.

Struggling to get top 4 in a weak league after spending half a billion quid.

Slow, turgid, insipid football.

Openly admits he has no clue against a low block and direct football.

Awful man manager.

Almost all players have regressed significantly, bar Szoboszlai.

Our options for left wing are a shit Gakpo and a child.

Our options for right wing are a finished Salah and Frimpong - the latter whom he refuses to play there now. Striker is Ekitike who is brilliant but can't play 90 minutes seemingly and Isak who is made out of the dusty remains of Joel Matip.

Bradley is injury prone and out for the season at right back. Frimpong is not a natural right back.

Left back we have an inconsistent Kerkez who's finding his way in the game and is not a guaranteed success. We're about to sell Robertson.

Centre back we have an aging, declining Van Dijk, Konate who got lobotomised at some point during the summer and whose contract runs out in a few months, Gomez who's injured again, out of contract next season and also made from the dusty remains of Joel Matip, and an Italian kid who's never played in the league before and is coming back from an ACL injury.

Our performances dropped off around this time last year. We had enough Klopp-scented fumes left in the tank to see us over the line against an underwhelming Arsenal side.

We were consistently good from August to January last year. Everything else from Slot has been poor. We've been crap longer than we've been good.

You need to invest in a better HD subscription. It doesn't make you big or clever or a superfan to be the only person pointing out contrary opinions. The vast majority of the time you're just wrong.

But yeah, maybe everything is fantastic. We'll sweep all before us in the CL. Let's just pray we avoid PSV and any English side in the knockouts, and hope news of the low block hasn't reached the continent. Happy happy happy. Joy joy joy.

I’m not happy clappy at all. We need serious improvement that much is obvious. What I am, is prepared to give Slot time to show he can right the ship and rebuild the team around new players and new tactics.
He isn’t Klopp or Pep. By the way only Pep and his squillions have won back to back in the last 18 years since Utds dominance ended. Pep is also on track to a second poor season in a row btw. It happens when you rebuild.

Klopp for his greatness couldn’t sustain back to back challenges after we finally won a league title. We fell away each season after.

Fans thinking we could easily go back to back were living in La La land, never mind all the change.

Will Slot do it? Fuck knows. Has he earned the right from last season and this season after bouncing back from what looked like a terminal run of defeats? I think yes. Clearly I’m in the very small minority with that view here even if some peoples hatred of Slot the man or his playing style colours their views.

Social media has never been an accurate judge of fan sentiment. It’s a place where people vent and talk shite.

Literally no pundits or people with a platform to speak are calling for his head. That should tell where the balanced view is.

We are 4th and in the knock out stages of the CL. Still in the FA Cup and showing every so slowly glimpses of what we could look like.

If we were to go on a run of defeats now I would completely understand him getting sacked. I hope we don’t even though some do.

So it’s not binary as in he should be sacked, he should stay til the end of the season.

ATM I think he should be given til the summer then reassess, unless results plummet.

Tent was booed while playing for the club. That was a first. Our fan base like everyone else’s is changing. The only difference here is I don’t need to call people retards because they have a different view to me. Stay classy.

A run of defeats? No wins in 5.

Glimpses of what we'll look like? What? We've looked awful in practically every single game.

If we give him until the summer, we will finish midtable. We will be midtable by February.

It isn't changing. The fans booed Owen 20 years ago. McManaman wasn't exactly sent off with well wishes.

We're shite.

I don't know any fans - of any age or generation - in the real world that think he is doing a good job or should stay. And I'm in Liverpool. Not cloud cuckooland watching from my expensive HD stream.
