Post Match EPL Leeds(H) 0-0 Thursday January 1st 17:30

Binny, I'm not defending the quality of this football, but when you are getting pumped, ANY manager is going to start chancing a 0-0, surely?

It’s the subs that grate me. We were doing okay, but the subs were a backwards move, not positive ones.
We were doing OK ? We were creating nothing before the subs and we were creating nothing after the subs.. Slow turgid football.. Slow will say we dominated and deserved to win like he says after all games but we were fucking useless.. First half was bad but slot was obviously happy with that 1st half cos he played the 2nd half at the same slow controlled style creating nothing..
Could easily have lost it in the end.
There has been no real improvement in the last few games despite the unbeaten run. All the games in that run probably bar the west ham one could easily have gone against us

Can someone explain to me why we had both Rio and Gakpo playing left wing at the end (with Kerkez running into the same space)?

Oh and Chiesa has gone back to being really shit again hasn’t he?

On the other wing, between 75th and 85th minute, we had Bradley, followed by Frimpong, followed by Szoboslai playing right back. I don’t think there was anyone on the right wing once Frimpong went off.

We DID deserve to win. Everyone on here said we deserved to be ahead first half. Second half was turgid, but 0-0 in that 45 was fair.

So we deserved the win, but we didn't win

Cheesy was right-most

It's pretty damning that in a match that you're in control of, the longer it goes on, the less likely you are to score.

The normal order of these things is that as time goes on, the defence gets tired and there's space to exploit.

With us though, it seems we run out of confidence and fitness and just trickle over the finish line.

The subs were bewildering. Clueless management.

Wirtz was awful today.

So, so many stupid stupid errors/decisions, i mean how many ridiculous off sides did we give away? Daft flicks, mis-placed passes, the whole set of fuck ups.

It's rubbish to say it, and it's the state of refereeing, but if ekitike goes down its a pen. The guy was holding him, with both arms, for what 3 seconds?

Gotta be a pussy and fall over to get the decision. This is as pathetic as our performance.

Against a side that hasn't kept a clean sheet away from home, mate

Pardon me — I’m generally an optimistic person, but I’ve been feeling quite low (and increasingly grumpy) since our football went downhill towards the end of last season. I just can’t see much light at the end of the tunnel.

i thought kerkez was absolute dog shit when he came on neither sharp or attuned to the requirements of the game
His best games have been when Gakpo wasn’t on the pitch. He then pulls that when coming on alongside Gakpo.

Keep your head up Binny, don’t let this bald headed stubborn clueless cunt of a manager put you down and ruin your evenings.

We didn't really deserve to win..better xg yeah and really the only 2 chances were the ekitike missed header which probably .8 of our xg and I think wirtz had a chance but apart from that I can't remember anything else that was a proper chance...
But playing the 2nd half exactly the same way as the first was terrible.. Created nothing of note..no way we deserved to win.. Didn't do enough to win but this is how slot wants to play.. He's focused on not conceding and controlling the ball..the football is slow and allows teams to get men behind the ball and his tactics struggle the break down low block teams..

It's new year's Day. I'm still a little hungover, I gave up drinking and smoking for January, I spent the day on the sofa with my girlfriend eating popcorn and watching shit films. Im glad I didn't force her to watch it

Can’t wait for Salah to be back!

Another clean sheet and unbeaten in 8 with a 3pt cushion in 4th.

How Hugo didn’t score I’ll never know.

Hopefully we can beat Fulham to restore confidence before a huge game against Arsenal.

So apparently the ekitike missed header was an xg if .78 and the wirtz blocked shot was .51
So total 1.29 out of of a total of 1.98.. So apart from those 2 big chances out xg was .69 from the rest of the game with Leeds xg .68

The only positive is that Slot seems to have made us hard to beat, 8 games unbeaten now. Still hopeful that we'll start to get performances to follow at some point, but that doesn't seem to be getting much closer, and Salah tends to be stronger in the first half of the season than the second...

Rio looked lively at least

Shame he can't get more minutes as we're protecting his pathway to the first xi

Rio was nothing special. Three out of four times when he could run at their defender. Which is why he is subbed on, he passed it back. The fourth he did well, skinned their lad and put a cross in.

I don't have any criticism over the starting line ups, nor the substitutions, really. The players just didn't turn up in an attacking sense whatsoever. I can't remember their keeper being tested properly at any stage.

Where I do look at the coaching staff is the general lack of fitness or ability to maintain sustained pressure against bang average teams. The intensity always seems to drop off, or some in fits and starts throughout the game. We throw some urgency into the game at 88 minutes.

Shite.

So what you're saying then is : we should have won. Thanks.

Well drop him for Frimpong then ! Frim did bloody well and showed what a winger is supposed to do, all game.

We need to get Gravenberch further up the pitch. He’s now wasted being so deep. Szoboszlai had a poor game and didn’t make those supporting runs which Gravy scored from at the weekend.
