What confuses me most about this group, is that for what 25/30 mins in the second half we really took the game to them, on the front foot, winning the 50/50’s as the ball comes back out to recycle the ball again for sustained pressure….everything was quick and probing.
Not once this season have we ever started the first 20-25 minutes like that. We used to do this under Klopp, particularly at home and blow teams away within half an hour - then ring the changes later in the game to maintain fitness.
It’s exactly made Anfield fortress, this softly softly slowly slowly, let’s build ourselves into the game bollocks has only encouraged teams coming to Anfield…our record this year is evidence of that.
The thing is, between now and the end of the season, I fully expect to see us start most of our games as we did today. Seriously who watches that, with the knowledge it can evidently be quicker, more intense and go ‘yeah we’ll have some more of that’
Bollocks to the fitness reports, the lads need to throw the kitchen sink at every game until the end of the season if they want to salvage anything of it.
