Post Match EPL Sunderland (A) 0-1 Wednesday February 11th 20:15

As Hansern said the fight and effort at the end was great to see. So many times we've rolled over in the latter stages of the game and looked like utter fannies. Seeing Curtis launch himself at their keeper to chase down a loose ball towards the end is the just the kind of tonic I needed as a fan amongst this shit show of a season.

That performance was better, but still not very good.

I won't be crowing about it.
It was still a tough watch. It seemed to be a lot of corners and pop shots. However, I would’ve taken that every day of the week when challenging for the title. Midweek, away, bad weather, terrible pitch, clean sheet and the three points. Even if it takes an oggy (yes, it is an oggy no matter what the league says) to win it. Their keeper didn’t make any fantastic saves, just solid ones.

Thought we played quite well in parts. Last 20-25 mins in the first half we outplayed them. Not a good 2nd half but we showed up for the last 15.
All in all something to build on, but not to get carried away on.

An impressive win without Dom, our best player this campaign.
Good to see Ibou and Macca playing so well given their early season form. Hopefully we will have a good end to the season.

This was one of our better games. We played well in spells and looked dangerous. It’s frustrating we lack cutting edge to put games to bed though.
Yes it was better. Which is the sad thing.

The biggest change that I appreciated was sense of urgency to move the ball quickly and press from the beginning of the game. It did not always work, but it wasn’t slow and ponderous, either.

Decent result. Sunderland are half the team without Xhaka, but still had to fight for it and stay concentrated in shitty conditions.

The attack was predictably drab and misfiring, but not as bad as it's been. The win came because the defence stayed switched on and aggressive and the midfield seized control for sufficient amount of time for the set piece count to build.

Wirtz, Konate and VVD probably the pick of the bunch.

Forrest, West Ham and Wolves next in the league. If there was ever a chance to get 9 from 9 and move past Chelsea and United, it's in the next few weeks. Having any real faith, hope or expectation in side, though, is pointless.

I don't mind an ugly win, but people seem to be universally praising it as a good performance.

It wasn't good, and a better side would have tore us apart, as Sunderland got a few opportunities. Yes we should have scored as well, but we still looked ponderous in the final third, wirtz aside. Ekitike had to come deep so often tonhelp build up play we were then struggling for a tip of the spear. Salah and gakpo (once again) looked done as an attacking pair.

A win is a win, and that's all that counts. I won't be praising the performance though.

Yepp. It was pretty much Wirtz up top and Ibou/Virge at the back. Love Robbo but he's clearly done. Endo at RB was tantamount to staff abuse

The positive from a negative place for me was Gakpo really looked like he was trying to get some kind of form going in the first Half.
As for the Slot bollocks about finally having a team that can do matches every 3/4 days. Bollocks. Tekkers is done at 65/70 and the rest of the team are on the ropes at 80 because they've been run into the fucking ground

And yeah, it wasn´t pretty. I don´t think we´re getting out of shawshank. I think we´ll probably end up getting assfucked by that big fella. But if we do, we aren´t going to come out squeaky clean the other side. It´s going to be ugly, obviously. We´ll have the shit all over ourselves.

We fucking won. We will have plenty of opportunity to resort to cannibalism later.

Who the hell thinks they got one over on other people because we won, and who the hell somehow begrudges a win amidst this pile of shit.

Shush lads, the headmaster is here. HIDE! 🤣

Surely you have to evaluate us based on lowered expectations?

If we were 4 seasons deep in to the mire I'd agree. I've still kept the standards that klopp set so I'm overly critical. We're only half a season after winning the league, our standards shouldn't have dropped that much so quickly.

These players can play better. Why haven't they been?

I don't feel i should be praising this performance when this should be the bare minimum standard for us. An ugly performance but you can see what we were trying. The fact that this is a breath of fresh air for us is hugely galling for me

Remember what it took to get out of Shawshank. We may be on course!

Honestly, even under Jurgen, in fairness, a 1-0 win against this team would have been considered a good result. Sunderland haven't lost a game at home till tonight. Fair is fair to Arne and the lads. They had gone 12 home games unbeaten, with 7 wins and 5 draws before tonight.
