Post Match EPL Sunderland (A) 0-1 Wednesday February 11th 20:15

Agreed. There was a passage of play in the second half were Gakpo ran into Ekitike instead of getting into a better position.
The Wirtz - Ekitike combo is very promising though.
The wingers need replacing. With Isak or Ekitike they aren't the type of wingers we need. Cutting in and shooting should be an option, not the first choice every time. That worked when we didn't have an effective 9 or played with a false 9. Now we need the wingers to be more creator than finisher.

It's no accident we looked better when Frimpong and wirtz were on the wings

Was about to post that as well. Two pacey wingers that are good 1 vs 1 and we suddenly look like a much better attacking unit.
Diomande is hopefully one of them.

Diomande looks good but it screams trap to me. I had that feeling with semenyo though so I'm probably just paranoid

I think he's the real deal. Seen loads of scout reports on him and he's just one of kind. He's been just about the best player everywhere he has turned up in his young life. Can play on both wings but most effective on the right. Perfect player for us so hopefully it gets done.
Salah's replacement.

i find the lack of 'coordination' between our front 3 so frustrating at times.
the team is still fighting, which is most important as 4th (or higher) is doable if the team just does its job. we're good enough to beat most, if not all teams. Just gotta play football and stop with so many mistakes.
it's a start - unconvincing at times, but every marathon starts with a step.
There's plenty of coordination with Ekitike and Wirtz, while Salah and Wirtz do look to be playing off each other more and more, but you're right, the attack is being let down badly by a passenger and a player who just isn't good enough.

The fuck can't he just praise the defence, rather than effectvely go "ibous got mistakes in him, so tonight was a surprise"
is slot trashing his own players more annoying or him talking about low block? perhaps him crediting PSG's playing style?
Not forgetting that he just lost someone very dear to him. It could have been an opportunity to show him more support and compassion — even simply on a human level, not just as his head coach.

Wirtz isn't part of the front 3 for me (at least not yest) - gakpo-hugo-salah.

Wirtz has a really good connection with Hugo - can't the same with the others unfortunately.

A lot of people seem to be giving him credit for this but I don't get why.

There was no need for any of that. He was down already and play had stopped. He should've stayed down and gotten treatment instead of getting up and potentially doing himself more damage.

Also, in the next passage of play, the ball was pinging around in our box for a couple mins and we could've conceded whilst he was hobbling about.

He was in shock.

Once again though, the subs not being ready could have cost us. It seems so fucking lazy from the bench. He's not the type of player to go down like that and stay down; why the fuck wouldn't you just get the sub done there and then

Endo wanting to play on us admirable, but where the fuck is the duty of care from the bench?
Yep. It’s ridiculous.

It's Endo. He probably got up and wanted to continue inspite of himself due to the adrenaline and then felt it.

Are we really going to criticize such commitment. It's obviously alot easier to just lie down.

I think its more that Endo didnt want to leave us with one man less when facing a corner. You can't get a sub ready in 15-30 seconds.
Most likely it would have been dealt with in another way if we werent defending that set piece.
