European Tidbits

This has Aulas' dirty fingerprints all over this, how is a club like Lyon allowed to accumalate (what's reported as) over 500m in debt?

I'd imagine if the decision is upheld, Lyon will also be excluded from competing in next season's Europa league.......Palace fans will be happy.

Only two stick out malick fofana and Georges Mikautadze. You would only get either if Diaz left

Sign Fofana and then loan him out for a year.

Or better still… wait till Lyon are relegated and buy the club on the cheap.

cheap?? Even if they paid an entity to buy them for £100m, they'd still be too expensive, as you would have to find another £400m to clear the debt

Hasn’t that debt been substantially reduced to more like £150m?

Anyway, I wasn’t entirely serious about buying the club - but it looks like they’ll need to sell some players - so if Fofana is on our list and the stories of him wanting to play for Liverpool are true - I’d be happy for us to do what we did with Mamardashvili and loan him out somewhere for a year to develop.

Loan him to Leverkusen or Dortmund when the sell Gittens… or something like that.

Who will reduce it for them?

Lyon???

Textor and other investors apparently already ploughed money in to bring down the debt to satisfy the league.

Maybe he’ll chip in more from his Palace share sale to win the appeal and keep the club in the top division.

Maybe Textor keeps his money from Palaceand “sells” Lyon at whatever the debt price is and just takes it as a write off.

I don’t really know? And to be totally honest, don’t really care either.

I was semi-joking when I said FSG should buy Lyon - and that’s only because we’ve been looking for a club to buy and they do love a distressed asset available on the cheap.
