I watched the Citeh game today but watched without piped crowd sound as I'm sick of it. Just me?

Strange - I though the City game had the least amount of that fake crowd noise since these empty stadium games started. I actually hate it without the noise, to me it will just feel like a training session, the noise makes watching these games acceptable without the fans - (only just).

I'm kind of in the middle. I like to hear a bit of background noise during general play, as opposed to silence other than a few players shouting at each other like it's a training session, but the attempts to throw in relevant chants and crowd reactions to match events are a bit shit, and usually well out of sync with those events.

Personally, I'm starting to feel less invested in the game without the crowd. I still watch LFC games but I find it harder to watch other games.
It's like all the emotions have slowly been drained from the game. I think it's affecting the players as well.
Home games aren't really home games any more in the sense that there's nothing for the opposition to be nervous about.

I'm currently watching the NBA playoffs and for some reason newcomers to the league and role players who in this stage of season usually are timid, are playing out of their skin. Never seen it happen before. Usually the playoffs are all about the experienced players.

That reminds me of something @Dee said earlier about crowds. Or lack of. I wonder how much of an impact that is going to have on the actual results of the fixtures? Everyone knows that the reds at Anfield are used to basically playing with the much-vaunted '12th man' giving a massive advantage. Same could be said for a number of teams. Some though (it has it be said) it's hardly going to make a difference. Has anyone ever been to The Emirates? Beautiful ground but quiet as a mouse. It's definitely interesting watching the game without the bloody fake crowd noise. Weird as fuck but interesting. I'm thinking the table is going to be skewed as fuck this year (if completed) - The lack of crowd will almost certainly play a part in that in my opinion.

City isn’t a good example to use as a comparison.

That’s what their stadium sounds like normally - and there’s normally no-one there.

Maybe they’re missing the sound of hand held plastic flags fluttering in the wind.

I think theres no way on earth that Utd pen would be given after the final whistle on Saturday with a full house in the stadium

It does have me a little worried that Anfield will no longer be a feared place to travel to and our 'one goal advantage' negated. We will now be totally reliant on the players being up for every game ... those flat games we still dragged across the line may not happen this season. Especially in the CL. Maybe the addition of Thiago and Jota will compensate. Have to be hopeful that we can get even 5-10k back into the ground at some stage.

I don’t like the deadly silence and hearing man on isn’t really insightful.

Everything being out of sync does my head in. The reaction times of a goal going in and the expected noise is too long.

The songs are shite too. When we play certain teams we sing certain songs. Sky aren’t even anywhere near close to replicating that. I wouldn’t expect them to do Manchester is full of shit. I would expect the Chelsea no history or merry Christmas Everton if we played them in December, which we don’t.

What I’m trying to say is it’s shit with it on and shit with it off. If I had to pick I have it on.

I think it depends on the broadcaster. Skys efforts remain the worst of the bunch.
Spot on this.

BT's is actually really good.

I can't watch it without it, when I do it feels as though it's missing something.

I remember when we used to go watch the youth cup games at Anfield, the early games it'd be almost empty, & it never felt right, & it's eerily similar watching it with no crowd.

I much prefer the canned crowd noises to the ghostly silence of an empty stadium. I think it does help a bit, it's a bit more like watching a proper game.

It depends. If I'm half having a match on half doing some work half arsing around on the internet I don't care. If I'm watching a match properly I do like some white noise coz otherwise it sounds like you're playing 5 a side and just seems weird.

Prefer it on. I can then get absorbed in the game and fool myself it's not an empty stadium.

I doubt I'd keep watching without it.

I quite like Martin Tyler. If he does hate us it doesn't seem to bother me.

The one I can't stand is Peter Drury.

I definitely preferred NBC’s team compared to Sky and BT. Drury seems to love the game. It’s just a job for most the others.

That And It's Live thing turns my stomach now. Please make it stop.

Does he do that 'And it's live' thing as a sort of laboured irony, or does he actually think that the 90% of his audience that can't remember when any game WASN'T live will still get excited at the thought that it IS live? I can never work out what he's aiming for.

He was okay until they paired him with Andy Gray, and he gradually became terrified of leaving even a second of silence. Now he's blended that with an almost tearful despair when the teams he dislikes are doing well, so he's practically sobbing during most of our games. He's an absolute whopper these days.

When you go on other forums everyone is sure he hates their team. It must be that he just hates football in general. Or life. Human life.

Yep. I've noticed that. Everyone thinks he has an agenda. I think he's just grown apathetic to football.

I don't think there's much doubt that Tyler sounds much more chipper when he's doing the London games. Aside from that, like all commentators, he dreads the bigger teams having comfortable games against the smaller teams because he fears loads of neutrals will get bored, but he over-compensates by shrieking hysterically when the smaller teams get a goal. What he fails to realise is that the neutrals are a minority in most audiences - it's usually about 60-70% made up of fans of the two teams actually playing - so he's alienating the wrong part.

If I'm watching on Sky, I will watch/listen to the channel without the fake noise. If I'm streaming, I'll probably just mute it. The fake noise is dreadful.
