Coutinho.
Im a bit worried about him. Its genuinely like he (and Mr Rodgers) wasnt expecting teams to give him any special treatment this season.
Both games so far he has been doubled up on and both games he has underperformed. He is such a brilliant footballer that we are going to rely on him this season to be at the level he was last year, and to do that FIRST he has to play a bit differently this year. He has to accept that he will not get the time he got last year (Villa in particular knicked the ball off him constantly) and that opposing managers and players will be anticipating him always trying the killer pass. He has to learn to keep it simple, especially when we are under pressure and need to retain possession.
I dont want to start any big thing about it, but two games in a row he has been marked and pretty much bullied out of the game. I hope he (and Mr Rodgers) can find a way to counter that and to get him more freedom. If im honest the only way I see of doing that is signing better players to play with him. If I was Lambert or Hughes (or Moyes) id be saying fuck Henderson and Aspas too.

Sturridge did well countering the same problems but far too often for him that meant drifting miles away from goal leaving no one in a position of threat. Suarez returning should help all of these things but I really do think another player of ability to make it more difficult for the opposition to nullify our ONE threat is a must. If that doesnt happen the little wizard has to be able to adapt his game to the needs of ours.
I know a load of cockends will get all defensive about it now and thats fine, I see a problem and I hope we nip it in the bud quickly. We need the little guy on the ball, but with some freedom to use it too.

Teams are onto him and he's getting kicked to fuck with no protection from the refs. I think that has affected him in the two games so far this season. Hopefully he'll learn from that.

When/If Suarez comes back the opposition will have too many quality players to worry about to shackle Coutinho in the manner of the first two games.

I was about to write a proper reply but whisky disagrees so I'll just say I can't wait to see him destroy teams with Suarez.

He's been fine for someone who's being double up on. Once Suarez is back in the team, they cant double up on them both.

He hasnt been fine. Thats the point. And I agree re-Suarez. If you double up on Coutinho and leave Suarez or Sturridge one on one you be fucked.

Imagine if we had a forth player in the attacking four that scared the shit out of the opposition defense.

Thats the dream right?
Couthinho--------Sturridge-----------Suarez
------------------------??---------------------------
--------------Gerrard---Lucas--------------------

Mark all 4 of them bastards.
Like trying to bottle wind.

Exactly, we were thinking stop Benteke, stop Villa.
They were thinking stop Coutinho, stop Liverpool.
As soon as we find another creative outlet, the focus on him will drop significantly.

Last season he caught a lot of people by surprise. This year will be a big test for him and we'll get to find out how good he really is.

Suarez coming back should help a lot and yeah, I think we need another player.

That bit in bold. That snidey cunt Lowton came in with a coward's cynical bump and kick which should've been a yellow in my opinion, and then kicked him again and finally earned a yellow (which should've been his second). Lambert wised up and got him subbed out or they could've ended a man down.

Last week, he was getting doubled (fair enough) and kicked to bits as well by Stoke. No doubt Scholes would come out from retirement and kick him this weekend if he could.

I think Oncys right to a degree. After 2 games there is only one player who has created more chances and thats Hazard. So even though he's getting more attention and being doubled up on he's created chances and made key passes.

But, we most definetly need to adress it by adding one more quality attacker and it will also help him when Suarez is fit. Coutinho also needs to keep it simple at times.

Its also easy to forget that he's a young lad and will have his ups and downs this season.

He still created chances and had a hand in the goal, he'll learn. If we add a couple of other players, teams will have a headache, they can't double up on everyone and when we have Gerrard, Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge on the pitch together, it'll be a nightmare for anyone.

Of course we need another creative match winner in the attacking line.

That's probably why Rodgers has spent all summer trying to sign one.

I imagine Ferdinand will take it upon himself.

World class players like Moses?

When did I say Moses was world class?

We're quite obviously not getting these 30/40M world class players, so we've got to try and improve the side in other ways. This guys would be an improvement.

We can stand around and cry about it, or we can work with what we've got.
