I know its early but it is one of the two biggest games of the season (the other is us away to them). I expect Maureen to set them up not to loose ie park the bus and hit us with set plays or on the counter.
This will be the hardest test so far and with Zlatan (in their team) a goal could come from anywhere.

I agree with the OP that Mourhino will set up not to lose. He's come to Anfield before with far better sides than he is managing now and done exactly that.

I'd love to see Liverpool really tear into them early on, the crowd will be up for it that's for sure.

Also, I hate the term 'The Scum'.

My least fav game of the year as we are expected to win.

I love playing them away.

No doubt Jose will find a way to slow the pace of the game down and disrupt our flow.

I couldn't care less if it's a fluky 1-0, a win is a win and would be a huge statement to beat them.

I also love the fact everyone is talking about Spurs and not us after the weekend.

The longer we are seen as top 4 material and not title challengers the better.

We probably have to score about three goals. Can't see us keeping a clean sheet.

They dont deserve a "The"

I'm feeling really confident for some reason. I think we will score 3 or 4 goals....but they will score 2.
Like I said before our set piece defending worries me.
Priority no 1: don't concede corners or free kicks.
If we can do that we'll be fine.

There is little chance of us keeping them out for 90mins plus scum time. I think we will struggle against Rashford and Tonys pace. It could go either way but one thing is for certain Jose will have his paranoid formation setup - park the bus so we will go forward in numbers. He will try and do a Burnley over us. To win this we will defo need 3 or 4 goals.

The thing that worries me most is that they're very good at set pieces and we are especially awful, I can see this being an utterly undeserved win for them, or something equally gutting. My hope however is that having this game at Anfield at 8pm (how did the police ever allow that?) will mean that the atmosphere is absolutely insane and the game will play at 400 miles an hour and we win as a result. If we keep the tempo up, we win, if we allow Mourinho to dictate the tempo, as he'll try to do, we won't.

I think it's great that it's played on a Monday. Players like Firmino and Coutinho who have to travel from South America will have time to rest and adjust considering the time difference. Brazil are playing their 2nd game on the 11th, that's 6 days before the Man U game.

Looking at our usual starting line up:

Mignolet/Karius: None of them will start for their respective countries.
Clyne: Injured or getting rested
Lovren: Injure or getting rested
Matip: On a break from international football
Milner: retired

Henderson: Will start
Wijnaldum: Will start
Lallana/Can/Sturridge: Injured/ not selected/will probably start

Coutinho: Will most likely start on the bench.
Firmino: bench
Mané: Will start

Oh I think it's a fantastic time to hold the game, for many reasons, but the police usually don't allow us to play later on in the day due to fans drinking before the game, allowing us to play at 8pm must be making them very nervous!

Not sure Man U fans are famous for causing trouble. Shouldn't be a problem.

It will be a febrile, electric atmosphere in Anfield, pumped up by 8,000 odd extra bodies. Maureen will try and quiet the whole thing down, but as @Mystic says, if we keep the pace in the game, and are able to have the kind of movement that has mesmerised Arsenal, Hull and Leicester, then it could be an amazing night.

*loads shotgun*

You jinxy fucks better behave... or I will find you!!! [emoji6]

I imagine any united fans with tickets are taking the day off and will be on the beers from midday too. What an atmosphere it will be. I'll be searching for a pub in london to watch in.

I can't see how they dont score at least one vs our defence, even the shittest teams in the league can. So we're going to need to score 3-4 to win this I think. Which is very possible vs their very ropey defence too. I know mourinho is notorious for setting up park the bus tactics, but at this lot there's massive pressure on him to play more expansive football, so I think they will try and have a go, and surely that leaves space in behind. I don't think they'll deal well with the press.
It seems all games so far have been 'big games' for some reason, from playing top 4 teams that we need to get a result out of, to playing the fodder that we need to be beating as our bread and butter. Again, we need to get a result out of this.
From the look of the scum forums, it looks like they're not optimistic about this game at all. Especially if rooney plays.

Must be good odds on jose doing another number on us again.

Just hope its not a slip / karius having a mare

Games against United are almost impossible to predict. How many times in the LVG years did we merrily predict an easy win, only to lose every time? It's not a game in which form and quality count.

The main concerns are the condition and fitness of our best players, following the internationals. We've got a few injuries anyway. And obviously our terrible defence, goalkeeping problems, and complete inability to defend a set-piece without conceding.

United are stuttering and unsure of their best team. I hope Mourinho doesn't spot the obvious and plug the gaps behind Pogba and Herrera with Carrick, Schneiderlin and/or Fellaini, but he probably will, as he knows the pace and movement that we have can cause lots of problems.

He'll FLOOD the midfield and defence.

Mata always plays well against us. He's actually one of the only United players I don't HATE.

My big worry is that Mourinho has two weeks to figure out the best game plan against us, he always has a frustrating habit of knocking us out of our stride, and I can see it happening again, especially with the overconfidence that's going around.

You think he'll do something different to parking the bus and waiting for us to make an exploitable mistake?

Yeah, it always makes me nervous when there is so much over confidence knocking around.

I wish you'd stop talking about this game. It's nearly two weeks away. Me nerves are in ribbons already!

I don't think anyone is ever over-confident about playing United. especially given how much Mourinho loves to get one over on us.

Which admittedly he's very good at, given he's won 8 and only lost 2 in all the league matches he's contested against us as a manager.
