Game against the Scum

I don't think anyone is ever over-confident about playing United. especially given how much Mourinho loves to get one over on us.

Which admittedly he's very good at, given he's won 8 and only lost 2 in all the league matches he's contested against us as a manager.

Exactly. He knows how to get it done against us and we have lads talking about scoring 3 & 4 goals against them. That's over confidence in my eyes.

You think he'll do something different to parking the bus and waiting for us to make an exploitable mistake?

He'll be doing just that. Any set piece they get will be Mata or Blind hitting it towards Karius or putting pressure on him after his stuttering start to the PL.
Think he'll play Fellaini for just that reason. Zlatan, Pogba, Bailly, Smalling, Fellaini. We'll have our hands full defending that.

Just watched the highlights of 0-1 game from Anfield last season. We dicked them all game and they score from a set piece.

Heart says we'll win and dick them. Brain says we'll dick them, De Gea is motm and they score a jammy goal from a set piece, 0-1.

That 0-2 game at Anfield in 13/14 is by far the worst aswell. Weakned side, a pensioner in goal and we still messed it up. That slip. Oh lord that fucking slip.

I think we'll probably dominate the match and win. It's pretty obvious we're miles better than them... But they obv could win. Maureen has that way of boring the opposition to death and picking them apart once they nod off. I just think and hope we'll have too much for them.

If we're going to beat man U, it has to be with tempo and pace. Something that isn't that unfamiliar to us nowadays. It's going to be one hell of a game.

Really hope Klopp finds a place for Sturridge in the team. Felt that he widened the gap between thier midfield and defence when he came on against Hull. Their defence were fearful of him and dropped down. Firmino has a tendency to not stay forward. Klopp has even mentioned it at times.

Mane should be licking his lips if he's up against Blind. He's a decent player, but he has zero pace.

I would also play Sturridge. Because obviously.

Every time Utd are playing someone decent there is talk of targeting Blind cause he hasnt got pace, and nearly every time that doesnt work.
He hasnt got much pace but he's one of the better players out there when it comes to reading the game in my opinion. With that limited physique and shortage of pace he has to be mind.

Mane is boss so he'll find a way with movement and pace, but that will be against the whole back four who seem pretty out of sync. Bailly is rash and steps up way to often while Smalling just isnt that good.

Yeah, that's true. I still think his physique is what made Mourinho shift him from CB - he's just too short to play there, but he is a clever player and my post was just hopeful more than anything.

Yeah, I think so too. He can also hit a decent cross or set piece. Which I dont like...

Our weaknesses are set pieces and with towering figure of Zlatan we could get duly punished. I want us to win but I just don't think we will.

I'm resigned to the fact that it is inevitable the big-nosed cunt will score against us, and then celebrate wildly with his cunt manager on the touchline.

I been reading redcafe to see what they think. They're mostly shitting themselves and point to Klopp's record against Maureen.

If I was Maureen I'd just ping high balls in to Zlatan and have Martial and Rashford floating around while packing the midfield tight. Totally Pulis us. It's the best chance they've got and could work against our bollocks defence

Matip needs to stick to Zlatan like glue. They're best chances will likely come from crosses. we've shown we're not great at dealing with them so far.

OWEN'S OPINION

"When you think that the strength of Liverpool’s game is deep runs from midfield, I bet my bottom dollar that it won’t be Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba against Liverpool at Anfield,” he told BT Sport, per Manchester Evening News.

"He [Mourinho] would be really brave to do that.

“I think it should be Michael Carrick or Morgan Schneiderlin, although I don’t think he’s quite good enough to be a Manchester United regular.

“Marouane Fellaini I don’t think understands that role in this team so much. I would pick Carrick.”

However, in the unlikely scenario that Rooney doesn’t return to the starting line-up, Owen has another alternative.
“Or you could pick Herrera and Carrick and have Pogba as a No.10,” he admitted.

I agree with the OP that Mourhino will set up not to lose. He's come to Anfield before with far better sides than he is managing now and done exactly that.

I'd love to see Liverpool really tear into them early on, the crowd will be up for it that's for sure.

Also, I hate the term 'The Scum'.
Yep. They're not scum. They're Manc twats.

Not sure Man U fans are famous for causing trouble. Shouldn't be a problem.
Hahahahaha! Have you seen the lot who come to Anfield? Not a single one wears colours. They have a mob and they love trouble with us and I'm sure there are many on our side who'd love a scrap with them.

Trouble is thankfully rare, because the police try to contain them and prevent it. They're the only away fans escorted to the ground from Lime Street that's for sure.

Well they're not West Ham
No they're not. But they are consistently the only team that I have seen come to Anfield looking for trouble every time since 1987.

There's the odd other one, Arsenal in the cup about 10 years ago springs to mind when they turned up at the Kop end pre game throwing bottles and singing Sign on to the bemusement of many. All escorted by Met bizzies too. Average age of about 20.

This is the game I love to hate. I'm always nervous in the run up and the thought of losing is horrible. But it's a great rivalry and its brutally tribal still. Part of how football used to be. Yeah the fighting between fans is stupid and childish and pointless. But because I don't like hating real people, I use this game to vent my spleen and get rid of my aggression by shouting copious obscenities at an anonymous group.

Yeah I've overstepped the mark and/or made people cringe at me when I'm watching this game - my ex-wife, also a Liverpool fan, refused to watch it with me but didn't like me going to pub for fear of a fight starting. So I usually ended up at home alone while she went to pub!

Being at the game is even worse. Why? Because I stay in control, but I can feel my tribalism bubbling. It's also the game where we get the most generous odds, home and away. So if I get a good feeling, I lump on us. Double joy....if we win.

He's also completely wrong. If he doesn't play Fellaini, with his clear threat at set-pieces I'll be shocked. He's commenting as if Maureen will come to play football, which he almost never does against us at the best of times.
