We've all seen the 'billionaires get bored and move onto the next plaything pretty quickly' argument when Roman bought Chelsea, the again when City got bought out. Let's be real, it's just about prestige, like horse racing or formula 1 teams. They will not be doing this short term, that would be an embarrassing defeat on the international stage, they simply won't allow that to happen.

History is full of embarrassing defeats and arrogant men overestimating their clout.

Imagine the kompramat MBS has on Boris. He was using that Pegasus WhatsApp hack before anyone knew about it, fucked Bezos with it, probs has files on everyone in power on the planet.

Yeah, they'll do what they want.

Their team next year.

Anyone else think they could get relegated? I don't think they will if they get a half competent manager in quickly but their start has been awful and there are only so many players they will be able to sign in January

I think they could easily get relegated, they're in an awful awful spot and now til the end of the season is no where near enough time to change it.

I was listening to Simon Jordan on Talksport this morning and he horrifyingly came out and said a club can carry over £105m of losses over 3 years & FFP can't do anything but with Newcastle they've been in profit over the 14 years of Ashley's reign so effectively these new owners could go out and spend 500m.....1B in summer if they wanted to.

Not bothered.

We were finishing positons between 8th to 2nd pre Abromovich and that hasn’t changed since the rest of the oil rich clubs joined them.
I would rather have a league with 5-6 super rich clubs then one or 2 huge clubs in other leagues anyway if it came to it, it means we can still use the competion to our advantage especially when they fight amongst each other as they have always done. No different oncd Nufc join them.

Also, not sure how much moral highground people can keep about taking Saudi money. As a nation, we are the second largest supplier of Arms to Saudi Arabia . They don’t just use those guns for pretend Nerf fights so best to get off that high horse.

Zero chance imo

What ? They are 1 pt!!!!! Off safety 7 games in. 6pts off 12th. Arsenal went from bottom to 11th in 3 games. With a manager like Conte, fully motivated players and a couple of signing in Jan they’ll coast to mid table.

Dreamy, by that logic even Norwich are fancying their chances.....3 clubs have to go down and Norwich are the only club not "1 point off safety"

Fact is they've not won a game in 7, fact is they have the joint worst defensive record alongside Norwich.

Fact is they've already submitted a 23 man team to the Prem for this season....and guess what Dreamyboy, 22 of them ARE FUCKING USELESS. I.e Championship players i.e RELEGATION

Do the maths.

How many titles have been won outside of City and Chelsea since City got super rich? Apart from ours and Leicester insane seasons they’ve shared every title for 10 years. Add another super power and the chances of any non Multi multi billionaire owned team winning the league diminishes enough more.

Give Norwich Conte they’d have a chance. Not to mention Newcastle have some very passable players for the EPL. Add in a couple of big players in Jan and it’s easy. FFS Fat Sam would keep Newcastle up. You’re in cookoo land if you think they’ll get relegated.

Last 10 years ...
Man U - 1
Leicester - 1
Man City 1 -
Chelsea - 2
Man City - 5

Out of all those clubs, we're the 'poorest' ... now add Newcastle who have more money now than all the 5 clubs combined.

& you're living in La la dipsy dipshit land if you think they've got "no chance" of going down.

Not everyone has your pessimistic thinking of, "oh shit they've got multi bill owners so now before their next league game Conte will be in charge putting out a line up of Mbappe Haaland Ronaldo Messi and Pele"

You donut.

Do you understand that they've submitted their 23 man squad for the league this season?

Do you realise how many games they've got to get through before they could even sign....I'll tell you what they could even be relegated by New Year.

HNY Geordies.

Exactly so our chances are in slimmer. Lose Klopp and it’s good night Irene. :(

And how many won the PLs before then did we win?
United may not have had oil money but they were ahead of the curve on marketing globally and dominated british transfer before a small period by Blackburn who spent steel money. Point it’s happening in one form or another since PL started. Another club joining that list is a bit meh...

I’ll make sure you remind you of the stupidity of this post over the course of the season.
Conte doesn’t need any players. Fucking hell Bruce had them 12th last year. New manager and they’ll be flying with the current squad. It’s more likely they’ll get Europa conference league than relegated.
Maximin
Wilson
Wilcock
Almiron
Shelvey
Longstaff
Lascelles
Richie
Hendrick
Lewis
Dubravok

All capable of lifting them out of the shit.

You're in cuckoo land if you think it's impossible. 3 points from 7 games and out of the teams you'd reasonably expect to finish top 6 they've only played Man United. They haven't even played teams who have surprised people like Brentford or Brighton yet. They have a poor squad (apart from Wilson and St Maximan) and a poor manager. They could be in a very bad spot by the time January rolls around.

Not really no as in each of those occasion it was generally one super power or two. Utd and Arsenal.

Now there is three with the new dwarfing everyone else. Not to mention Utd trying extremely hard to get back to the top. It’s pretty much the end for us a competitive force unless we get similar investment.

They’ll have a new manager in 2 weeks. They also have far more good players than just those two. That poor manager with the same squad got them 12th last year.
