Get him to the Greek (Deal Confirmed)

Looks more accomplished than Lewis in the highlights and determined to get crosses in. Haven't seen him play before but he seems to certainly fit the system.

I bet Norwich feel really clever now.
Had a look at their fan forum, they think LFC are in the wrong for not overpaying and not willing to haggle. "We said £20 mill but we would have accepted £15 mill with add-ons", is pretty much the sentiment there.
We offered Olympiakos more probably because Norwich were the ones who didn't want to take a lower fee than £20 mill.

It's kind of weird our first priority is a pure left back who doesn't play in the centre or anywhere else. We are skint and it wouldn't be much of an addition since Robbo is one of our best players and this new guy would probably play at most 10-15 games, and most as a sub if Robbo stays fit.

According to those reports above we didn't offer Olympiakos more than £15 mill. It's 16.5 mill.euros (£11.5 mill) apparently.

But yeah, those Norwich fans have got a cheek. It's up to Norwich to decide what to charge, but it's up to us to decide whether we'll pay it. Stuff 'em.

Chin up Norwich, shame about Jamal Lewis but this guy looks legit. Great turn of pace, has attacking intent. Could be ideal for coming in some games after 65/70 mins when Robbo needs to put his feet up.

I meant more than the £10 mill we offered Norwich.

Rumours about Robbo needs surgery with an ongoing issue which will mean he will out for quite a few games, hence the need for the signing..

Appaz they are still on hold:

Everton have enquired regarding the availability of Greek and Olympiacos left back Kostas Tsimikas.

Source - Dailiy Mail

He stopped six out of seven dribbles attempted against him by Adama Traore this week.

Most fullbacks have been unable to come close to those numbers against Traore this season, Robertson included.

I feel bad for Jamal Lewis ... this would have been a dream move for him and his career path ...
Hopefully Tsimikas is quality.

I feel bad for Lewis, but this is just what Norwich deserve. They were settling down to what they thought would be a nice long transfer saga, spoons dangling from their mustard pots, and we simply said 'fuck you' and move on. Quick and incisive decision-making from us. It sends the right message at the right time in the transfer window.

Sets the tone if we decide to make a bid for Sarr.

So I looked up Tsimikas and apparently he has spent half a year on loan at a Danish club Esbjerg in 2017 and then spent the entire 2017-18 season on loan at the Dutch Willem II. First of all, I want to express my profound disappointment in @Kay Age Elthis is the player you should have been scouting for SCM instead of following all these Danish no-hopers warming the benches of shit clubs around the world. Was is so hard to predict that in 2020 we're going to have a global pandemic, win the title at a canter and look for a back-up for a world-class Scottish LB we signed for £8M from Hull and this guy was going to be the one we'd choose? I forgive you for now, but do better next time!

Seriously though, a bit of Dutch education should do him a world of good in terms of adjusting (in contrast to the Danish education, which means fuck all). We had the likes of Hyypia and Van Dijk come through Willem II before ending up at LFC and what's also encouraging is that Kostas' loan spell there was a big success – he started almost every game and scored 6 and assisted 4 in all comps (3 and 3 in the league). Not too shabby for a young full-back! I feel more confident about this transfer now; it's not the same as plucking a 24-year-old out of the Greek league who's never played abroad or had to navigate a new environment.

Here's a clip of 20-year-old Tsimikas bossing it in the Danish league (which @Kay Age El was obviously too busy to have noticed):

And here is a free-kick goal from his time in Holland:

What about all the money we haven't spent the last couple of years?

What about the 80 odd million we earned from 2 CL finals? Did it ALL go on bonuses?

And why shouldn't FSG put a bit of cash in every now and again, when it's really needed? It's not unreasonable.

I don’t know the absolute details - but our last published accounts, I believe, showed a £42m profit (pre tax) on a turnover of £533m with wages at 58% and debt reduced to £12m

I’d imagine the wage figure isn’t any lower, as our strategy has been to tie up existing players on new contracts.

It’s not a stretch to imagine our wages now exceed income.

FSG simply don’t put cash in - why should they? They’ve made loans available in past, interest free - but that’s about it.

Liverpool are a self funding entity, living within their own means - successfully.

The reasons Chelsea & City are able to splash cash are well documented, Utd don’t seem to care about debt - but they probably should in the current climate.

This is the best set of highlights I have found. Appreciate including the names of the teams he's playing against at the bottom of the screen. Honestly he looks boss.

I see a decent left boot but not much else. There's a very notable lack of any defensive highlights too.

He's going to need a Robbo like transformation

Not sure about that.

I see a VERY good crosser and he looks a very good dribbler too. He kind of looks like a winger in the final third.

But I do agree that there's a lack of defensive highlights in all the videos I've seen. If he's any good there with positioning, tackling and covering, or has the ability to develop these, we'll have another bargain on our hands.

It looks like the attacking side of his game is already there.

Why should they put cash in?

Cos they're our fucking owners, they've made £100millions off us, and we need investment right now.

Should be fucking obvious.

We don’t NEED investment. And they’ve invested pretty heavily on non-playing squad matters.

Well we could certainly do with some new signings. I don't think there's any point arguing about what exactly constitutes 'need'.

What cash injections have they made recently? (genuine question).

How much do the club owe them in loans?

As was mentioned - we don’t “need” investment.

I don’t think they’ve made “£100 millions” off us - the value of the club may have increased - but they aren’t pocketing huge profits- everything seems to be going back into the club.

They aren’t and never were “sugar daddies” that just chuck money into the club on a whim. Equally they aren’t blood sucking vampires that are draining the club of money.

I don’t really understand this expectation that owners will simply dip into their own money just because some fans get a bit angst-ridden over the lack of big money signings.

I mean - sure, it would be great for us to buy every good player available or have John Henry empty his personal bank account for us to splurge - but it’s not realistic.

I’m pretty confident John Henry didn’t buy LFC so as he could find a home for all that cash he has burning a hole in his back pocket.

I do wonder if Robbo is carrying a longer term injury that needs to be addressed or managed through less games. Its certainly a curious one

It doesn't seem weird to me. Milner is no longer viable cover for robbo, and even when he was, the drop off was huge. Robbo played injured this season, and it showed. Our fullbacks being fresh is hugely important to our overall play
