Just seen the news regarding his injury. Suspected ACL and potentially done for the season.

My best wishes to him for his recovery and a promise; We won’t forget you and will be waiting impatiently for your return

Shame. Hopefully he comes back stronger though any stronger and he would be in Adama Traore territory.

Devasted for the lad. Thankfully, he has youth and time on his side to overcome it. Hopefully some of the senior players who have suffered similar injuries can help him through it and expedite his recovery.

Gutted for him. Hope he realizes we're a club that adheres to the YNWA mantra! Good luck Giovanni YNWA.

Doing an ACL on your debut… luck doesn’t get worse than that. Gutted for the lad.

Virgil might be a better example to follow 😂😂

Devastating for the lad.

I really thought he might surprise a few and muscle his way into the team in the second half of the season.

Luke Chambers nearing fitness again apparently - maybe time for him to step up and be that 4th choice CB.

Either that or Williams for the cup or even give Nallo a chance - can do no harm since it’s the League Cup.

Its really bad news. He could have spent a whole season learning from Virg on the training ground. He would have had chances as Ibu will get injured 100% and in the Saints game he looked twice the CB of Gomez. We have to be super careful bringing him back, but TBH the chances don't feel good for him long term. Young defenders who get bad injuries seem to just fall away - thinking of the likes of James Justin, Wesley Fofana, maybe even Levi Colwill to an extent.

The chances of recurring injuries will become a lot higher now as a result. FFS.

We will never hear from him again. Maybe Calvin Ramsay can keep him company in the shadows of the club.

Speaking of which, has Illori played for the reserves yet? This is his moment to shine.

Luke Chambers ? - he is like 5ft9 - we need some tall people in defence, that is what we are used to, I also think this love affair with Guehi is a little too much, the amount of heading and over the top balls we have to deal with are quite significant, I sometimes think too many of you are underrating the aerial ability of both Konate, and Virgil plus the pace that Konate has - given we play a high line. Come winter we should be going for the biggest and baddest defender, Guehi looks good at Crystal Palace but here at Liverpool we play differently and I am not sure his qualities will be needed as much as covering ground at pace, and winning headers - which from all the stats show he is significantly lower than Konate.

I knew that whole defender saga in the Summer will come back and haunt us - we should have learnt from the last time how important it is to have central defensive cover given what happened to us in 2020/21 season. Virgil is too old in my opinion to last the entire season without having an injury and the other two could fall apart as I write this post.

Calm down Moron - it’s a 4th choice defender to sit on the bench - it’s not someone to replace Virgil or Konate.

Just chill - and remember…. Curtis is tall - he can show them all how to play at CB.

What's wrong with Chiesa's missus? Do you know her?
Apparently she’s a disgusting minger that @Athens wouldn’t touch with yours

Isn’t sports medicine way better for ACLs these days? I remember the days when a career was more or less over with ACL injuries, but didn’t think it was that bad an issue these days, apart from the long layoff of course.

Well there is a new technique for repairing ACL's meant for partial tears where they somehow sew the ligament back into the bone. The rehab and recovery is much shorter, but the risk is higher.

Hence why ACL reconstruction still is the go-to and that unfortunately takes about a year to get back from.

What happened to Leoni is obviously very sad, but he's lucky in terms of timing, because he'll be back in time for pre-season.
Also, he probably wouldn't have made the world cup squad for Italy anyway.
