Football authorities have until March 2012 to implement sweeping changes to the way the sport is run or face the threat of government intervention.

A deadline of 29 February has been set for the Football Association to overhaul its board and bring in a new licensing system for the club game.

Failure to do so will result in government legislation.

"[Football's] governance has failed to keep up with the modern game," said Sports Minister Hugh Robertson.

"I believe there are improvements that can be made.

"[But] I do not want government to run football, so this is an opportunity for the football family to work together to benefit the game in the long-term."

New licensing system? This comes out the same day as The club talks about its breaking up the tv rights and deals?

They fuck up just about everything why cant the politicians stay the fuck away from football, it may be fucked up but its our fuck up ,well not ours more 'their fuck up' but you get the idea.

What the fuck? Of all the things this shambles of a government have to sort out and this is what they have time to do today? What's more, what the fuck's it got to do with them? I can't stand the F.A., but if I was them I'd tell this lot where to go.

Yay a Million 18-24 year olds are unemployed, but the Govt tell Footy to sort itslef out!

Long live the ConDem (Its all Labours fault is the war cry) 18 months of going downhill and they still blame someone else!

Apparently its in response to someones report on debt levels within the sport.

Which is fair enough really.

We will have another 18 months of going down hill too and it still won't be their fault, it's a global issue, the last government sat on their hands when they could have improved on things, we would still be in the shite but just not as much.

I don't think you can just sit in a corner and shiver over the economic climate, there are other issues, life goes on and I think the FA and footy are fucked up and do need someone to tell them to get their house in order.
Some peeps on here are just so party political it's just fucking daft

Boo.

You're no fun.

We all know you were going to say Portly anyway!
