Seems there is gonna be a rush for his signature this Summer.

I can really see Arsenal getting him. They certainly need a defender.

After Arsene Wenger admitted Arsenal lacked experience and leadership at the back, Fulham centre-half Brede Hangeland is being tipped for a big-money move across London.

The Norwegian colossus has marshalled what was previously a leaky back four to the fourth-best defensive record in the Premier League and, after a long meeting with chief executive Ivan Gazidis, French tactician Wenger has been promised a big war-chest to allow a £15 million bid for the ex-Copenhagen stopper.

Now £15m is a lot of money but there are very few affordable, proven centre-backs with the experience and dominance that the Gunners require.

Worth 15million?

I hope they spend that much on him.

Good as he's been this season, he's clearly not worth 15m.

Well, if he continues putting in the performances he has done for Fulham, he'd be well worth that money (eventually). Arsenal are seriously lacking a commanding centreback.

He should really stay with Fulham for at least another season. That tyype of money can only be justified if he proves not to be a one season wonder.

There were reports of Wengers interest circulating a few months back and it's no surprise to them resurface.

Whatever the price, I think he'll be a good buy for them.

Good team are built from the back, and Arsenal just aren't...

Not exactly the traditional arsenal back four are they

He's like 28 isn't he? Where did he play before? That pricetag seems pretty steep, but I guess he could be worth £15m for Arsenal if he transforms them defensively.

Agger 5.5m
Skrtel 6.8m
Arbeloa 2.5m

Rafa must be a genius.

Dossena £8m.
Josemi £2.5m

Plus a million young reserve defenders.

Maybe not 😛

when you see hangeland priced at £15m and Pepe at madrid cost £26m he surely is

He sounds like an old Bay City Rollers chant. And that price tag is about £7m too much. He's the kind of player Uncle Roy would've spent about four months trying to sign.

Quite. £15m would probably get someone like Lescott who has alot more to his game than Hangeland.

But he can defend?

I heard today that Newcastle had Hangeland on trial a while back and decided he wasn't good enough for the Premiership.

Poor the Geordies.

Didn't KHL tell us about Hangeland ages ago ?

More than once.

Hangeland is a superb defender, and will be as long as he remains in the prem. Value is dependent on how much you need a certain type of player, and for Arsenal, Hangeland would be value enough at 15m. He'll improve their defence immensely.

And yes, kudos to KHL, who I remember spouting about years ago. That said, he spouts about all Scandinavian types, so you can never be sure...

Who was the other poster who was able to tell us everything about any Eastern European / Russian players ?

HE hasn't posted in a while so I forget his name, but he used to love Zhirkov.

Whoever it was, as I remember, was able to give an educated perspective on Skrtel, when the rest of us were going whaaaaaa?

Glock was on yesterday.

I honestly didn't think hangeland would adapt so easily, but he proved me wrong.

The last two years he's developed greatly and has turned out to be a fantastic centre back. He's our natural leader in the national team and never seems to play a bad game.
I'm not to sure he'll leave Fulham and I'm not convinced Arsenal have 15 mill to blow on a centre back.

That said, he'd be the perfect replacement for Hyypia, but wit pace aswell. He wont go to a club to sit on the bench though. He was quoted saying that a few weeks ago.

Seconded. A bit of an irony, isn't it? Too pricy for a 3rd/4th choice too. Hodgson just confirmed both him and Schwarzer have been offered new deals. I think whether he'll stay or go depends on the magnitude of the offer any interested clubs make for him. He's still got 2 yrs left on his contract. That said £15m for a £3.7m signing is indeed a good piece of business.
