I will never forget (though I've forgiven) one of my best friends having a spare corporate ticket for the final but not contacting me because he thought I wouldn't want to come from China at just 48 hours notice. It went unused 🙁

I was just reading the opposite side of the coin yesterday. How some of the Milan players and fans felt and their thoughts throughout and after the match. Also a decent read :

The truth is we should have done the double over them in Athens. Both Inzaghi's goals were offside and Rafa, having shown such stellar judgment two years earlier, put the final nail in our coffin when he subbed Masher off and in doing so liberated Kaka to run the game.

But it is what it is, and nothing will ever tarnish the memory of the greatest single experience I've had in what are now nearly 60 years of supporting the Red machine.

happy istanbul day to all!
................and happy Rome day to all to..........it's also the anniversary (43rd) of our first European Cup win against Borussia Moenchengladbach in Rome.

I can't believe that's 43 years ago, the memories (as a 14 year old) are still so vivid and joyous.

The real truth is that we both got our correct one win, one loss out of our two finals in three years with Milan... We just each won the one we should have lost and lost the one we should have won! 😉

Good to hear from you, mo chara, hope you and your dear ones are keeping well.

That said, I don't agree! Milan were a wonderful side but were full of conceit where their fighting spirit should have been. We deserved to beat them in Istanbul too.

Hello, my friend. We're all surviving over here so far, but it's been a close run thing at times! 🙂 How you and and yours are staying safe & healthy, of course.

Deserved, yes, based on character and sheer fighting spirit... But I think it's equally fair to say that, on each occasion, the team that played better for large swathes of each match ended up losing.
