Has Borini got a future with us?

It's easy to forget that he's only 22 (turning 23 this year) and hasn't played a proper full season of football. Even in 11/12 (26 appearances) when he excelled for Roma, he missed about 10 league games through injuries. Already made 24 appearances this season.

Ive tried to catch as many Sunderland games as possible the past couple months (which admittedly has only been a few) and he has looked rather good. Whether that can translate into being a dangerous or even useful player in a top 4 side with title aspirations remains to be seen but I think this has clearly been a good loan move for him. I hope we see him back at Anfield next year.

Keep him there for the rest of the season so he continues to get minutes, and bring him back into the fold next season. If we're in Europe next season, we'll need a bigger and deeper squad. We've got no strikers coming up from the U-21s, and I'll not be surprised if Aspas asks to go out on loan next season like Borini has this time around, to get minutes in the league. I'd rather we spent our money in the summer on other areas that needed immediate or greater attention.

Borini's been played as a wide forward this season for Sunderland I think, which is where he'll probably get minutes with us if he were to return. Good to see him doing well.

Playmaker?

Ha.
The same happened the other day when Moyes described Mata as a terrific playmaker.
Its weird as I haven't heard that word in about 12 years.

Thought he was very good today. Hope he continues his development and scores loads of goals for Sunderland.
Hope he makes it at Anfield next season.

He showed mental fortitude today taking the penalty for Sunderland's first goal. I like that.

He's a lot better than Aspas, that's for sure. But if we fuck Aspas off, and leave Borini on the bench, I wonder if it'll ruin him? He's no where near the level of Suarez and Sturridge, so he'd be limited to coming off the bench.

If we get Europa League he will probably be given another chance with Suarez gone and us needing the numbers in the squad, also he wont have the brick wall of Suarez to get past for a place in the team, then again a big chunk of the Suarez fee would go on a top class attacker or 2.

If we get CL i wouldn't be suprised to see him jibbed off as we will strenghen the front positions, even if he were to stay he would be a squad player at best and likely be gone within a window or 2, if a decent bid came along in this summer it would make sense for both parties to accept it, more cash for us to invest in better quality players and Borini can go and play regularly for whoever.

Can see him having a decent respectable career with a Fiorentina, Udinese type club, maybe even a top tier Italian club eventually.

If Suarez doesn't stay, he'll be Sturridge's partner in 2014. We'll call the partnership BAS.

With Toure, Aspas, Dirk returning, and Oussadi, and Rodgers managing, we'll call the forward line BASTARDO.

That's the only way to replace Luis!

Or just BS?

Nah thats unfair on Sturridge.

Johnson's get more talent than Downing has ever had, but he's yet to show the consistency required to player for a club aspiring for the CL.

He's playing well of late though and is a player to keep an eye on.

so you guys mean to say, he could be a better squad player than Borini

I'd rather keep Borini tbh - I think his attitude and commitment are far better, and we need a good 3rd striker imo as cover for Studge and (hopefully) Suarez.

I do think Adam Johnson has something to offer, and his current form has been excellent. Maybe he's starting to fulfill the potential he showed at boro? Maybe it's a purple patch? Dunno, but what he's done in the last 7 games, I don't think Downing could ever do.

Adam Johnson would be a Kenny type signing, a British player off the back of half/one good season, i wouldn't want him here, despite his talent hes shown what sort of mentality he has and that hes really not that arsed, hes just not the reliable type.

Like Henderson, that Kenny type signing who is being given a contract extension, or more like Aspas, than non-Kenny type signing?

Arf. Or Enrique, or erm Luis Suarez. Notice everyone was quiet about Adam destroying United at the weekend? Same old same old..

Anyway, Johnson's a good player who made a big career move too early, it happens. He's got a lot of talent.
