I wouldn't want Benitez back. How would he possibly be able to accept and deal with a situation where 2 or 3 people are doing the job regarding transfers that he waged a very public war over to get full control for himself?

I defended Rafa longer than most, but there's no way I'd have him back now. The fact that Roy is in over his head and needs to go pronto doesn't change the fact that it was time for Rafa to leave and, as others have said, he'd never tolerate the new set-up anyway.

Rafa had his chance and lost it. bad ownership merely gave him an excuse to hide behind inability to buy talented players.

2-0 Chievo.

Inter have been piss poor. Zonal passing between of team of Lucaslikes. Nothing like a treble winning team.

I'm genuinely surprised that it has all gone pear shaped so quickly. I thought he'd do well in the first year then everything would go rapidly downhill afterwards.

Seems so weird. The only thing that stopped him being the world class manager i was told he is here at Anfield was the shit squad he inherited and lack of board support.
It makes absolutely no sense that given as he has the treble winning team from last year to work with HOW is it possible that he can fail!??! HOW DAMMIT HOW!!

Benitez aside, I remember Mourinho mentioned about leaving a 'legacy' of some sort, by bringing thru more youngsters. Looking at the squad he left behind, it was evident this aspect was lacking. The buzz about Santon has fizzed out and Balotelli went for big bucks.

He wasn't able to buy Mascherano Oncy, if he had been allowed to sign him and the other players he liked (Messi, Ronaldo etc) he'd be on top of the league.
But he was allowed to sign top players here like mascherano, keane, johnson, aquilani etc. It makes no sense. Its a massive MASSIVE head scratcher. Its like he's cursed.

Oh stop gloating at the man's failure. If he'd succeeded there, would you all have been on here admitting you were wrong?

Rafa failed at Liverpool for many reasons, not all of them his own fault. I was sick to death of him by the end, but he was - and is - still a good manager. One who possibly needs to take a break from the game, but a good manager all the same.

If he does get sacked by Inter, I'd expect him to be successful with his next side. Probably a club the same size as Valencia, where expectations are a bit lower.
I think everyone expected him to succeed Bunst. And to be fair he could still, the question i would have is can he build a new team to continue on the success i expected. He did a fantastic job at valencia with cupers team, won trophies here with houlliers squad so i thought taking over a top squad would be a blueprint for success. I also expected it to go wrong when he started to change the squad as i dont think hes a very good manager. Hes a great coach but as a manager running football at a club he is what he is a lucky chancer.
And im revelling because i hate him and i hate inter so their failure allied with his failure is like manna from the gods for me.

2-1 FT
If they dont win their next game, he's sacked.
Hes gonna go back to Spain and coach a team fighting for relegation like Levante..

Hands up who said they were happier with Budgie as Liverpool manager than Benitez?

Yep, thought so.

Ha

I managed to leave out all the smug, laughable 'lucky/ overrated' 'I hate him' drivel, though.

Because he deserves a touch more respect than that.

Still, I admire that you stuck to your guns when it came to Benitez, and didn't change your opinion about him a thousand times or anything like that.

poor old rosco's sure going to have a tough time cleaning the chocolate and semen off his keyboard tomorrow.

Or one of the most overrated managers in the history of football.

I was against the Rafa sacking in the summer and I still think he is a great manager. He just needs a rest from the game to recharge his batteries.

But I would never have him back now. We need a manager who unites the fans. As a club, we - board, players, manager, fans - need to pull together forward as one entity. That's the only way we are going to win the league. Rafa's appointment will immediately divide the fans.
