And you guys are mad, he won't be managing us again. He can live in Liverpool all he wants though, maybe I'll sit next to him at a game one day and ask him why he sold Alonso.

It would be amusing if he started turning up at games, Clough style.

Bet you he'd take loads of notes.

Depends. I spent some time in Nottingham around then and TBH the whole thing came across as rather sad. I don't think Rafa coming back to Anfield as a spectator would necessarily do the same, but that would depend on him not doing it too often.

Marcotti said at the game yesterday all the fans were chanting for him to stay

I thought our game had been called off.

I meant when he rocked up at Derby after they sacked him.

Rory Smiths twitter an hour ago "I believe Inter Milan, as of the wee small hours of the morning, require a new manager"

Who in their right mind would go on holiday to Liverpool in the middle of winter?

Other than rafa Benitez?

If Massimo Moratti were to sack Rafa Benitez in the next few days, it would reportedly cost the Inter President no fewer than €8m.

Despite Benitez's claims that he hasn't been sacked, the Italian media believe it's only a matter of time before Moratti wields the axe.

This morning's Il Corriere dello Sport claims Rafa will be gone within the next two days. In the meantime, Inter are apparently deciding upon which course of action to take.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that there is a clause in Benitez's contract that foresees a mutual termination at no cost only in the summer.

However, if Moratti were to look for a unilateral rescission of his contract today, it would amount to a cost of €8m in compensation for the remainder of his two-year deal including bonuses after winning two pieces of silverware, namely the Italian Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

Moratti could find 8m if he just went and checked a few coat pockets and asked his bird if she had any change from the christmas shopping.

Looks like he is good at winning cups but not league.

He is good at getting sacked for great compensation too, if he is sacked...

Rafa can't be short of a few quid these days... Maybe I should try getting sacked twice in 6 months too.
[/quote]

You'd better get Rafa's agent before signing a contract...

Yup, he's laughing all the way to the bank. I'd be surprised if another huge club gambled on him now though. He'll surely either have to take a break or step down to a smaller club.

Sky Sports News understands Rafa Benitez has been sacked from his post as Inter Milan manager after just six months in charge.

The former Liverpool boss was only appointed by the Serie A giants in the summer but has failed to impress during his time in Italy.

Benitez was handed the unenviable task of following in the footsteps of Jose Mourinhoafter the former Chelsea chief secured an unprecedented treble of the UEFA Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia titles.

The 50-year-old has seen his side struggle in league action this season and they are currently seventh in the Serie A standings, 13 points adrift of leaders AC Milan, although they do have two games in hand.

Outburst

Inter's defence of their European crown has also stuttered as they finished second in Group A behind Tottenham and suffering a miserable 3-0 defeat at the hands of Werder Bremen in their final group fixture.

A meeting with Bayern Munich, who Mourinho's Inter defeated in the Champions League final last summer, was on the cards in the last 16, but there will be a new man at the helm for that fixture in February.

Benitez was understood to be on borrowed time after his outburst in the wake of the Club World Cup success when he called on club president Massimo Moratti to back him in the transfer market if they wanted him to stay as coach.

Moratti has pointedly refused to stand by the Spaniard following his explosive comments and it now appears his patience has run out.

I like Rafa but this might 'finally' shut up all the idiots who still think he's God.

I doubt it.

I think that's bang out of order. Do you realise what he's had to put up with at his last 3 clubs? Bloody unlucky he's been.

I agree. Poor bastard.

Though there's alot to be said for his ability to make money back on shit buys, it more or less renders them successful buys after all.

He's perfected the ultimate 'win-win' situation in the transfer market!

Moratti: "No marathon meeting"
Tuesday, 21 December 2010 22:24:42 permalink
MILAN - Just a short while ago, as he left the Saras offices, Inter president Massimo Moratti answered a few questions from the waiting journalists.

Here are his comments in full:

Mr Moratti, what was the outcome of your marathon meeting?
"There was no marathon meeting. I had my own business to attend to and other people met among themselves. I certainly didn't have a marathon meeting."

Is Rafa Benitez still the Inter coach?
"Yes, he is. In this precise moment he's the Inter coach, unless I'm mistaken."

Have you got anyone else in mind?
"No, there's no one else. I've heard and read about the supposed contact we've had with other coaches but the Club hasn't contacted anyone and won't until the current situation is cleared up."

So you haven't spoken to Leonardo?
"And when exactly, this evening?" (he smiles)

A few months ago...
"Come off it."
