Hugo Boss

There is a part of me that is happy that we're getting Ekitike over Isak. It just feels wrong / weird for Liverpool to be spending 150M+ for a so called "star" player. It's more Liverpool to get a younger player that we can develop here and call our own. That said, if Isak was a true star a la original Ronaldo then I wouldn't give a fuck.

Anyways, horrible Crouch flashbacks aside (due to his frame), there looks to be a lot of upsides to Ekitike's game. If he develops as expected, he can be a real asset. Whilst Salah is in the side, we don't need him to hit 25-30 goals a season though it'd be nice if he did develop into a great goalscorer.

I also wonder whether the current dearth in decent striker options will change with a new generation emerging over the next season or so and we're all just prematurely fighting over the current scraps.

Nunez's figures weren't bad at all for minutes played (it's the misses that pissed everyone off) so a massive improvement is a bit hyperbolic. Nunez worked back too so Ekitike will have to work his socks off. Likely his all round play is much better and will suit the team more - but this is still a huge gamble. Age on his side.
Oh you're completely right, but that's not really the parts of Darwins game that I thinks the most costly, it's the fact he's absolutely brainless in sustained build up (fine in transition) to the point where players actively avoid passing to him unless he's running in behind, where he'll almost certainly be offside, it feels like we're a man short at times.

I think Ekitike will be a massive improvement on this aspect, I still think we're massively overpaying though, but meh, not my money.

£69m plus £10 add-ons isn’t that bad - wasn’t Darwin £65m plus £20m add ons?

That’s also around what Gyokeres is likely to cost and not a lot more that Shitty paid for the (expensive) pound shop Salah.

It’s a lot, but in today’s striker market it might be a decent deal.

It’s also something that sets our expectations on Darwin - we want a similar price (additionally Diaz, if sold, should directly finance Rodrygo and I’d hope we’re pushing the £35m for Quansah as the cost for Guehi).

I wonder if he relies on standard pick-up artist tactics like negging, e.g.: "I don't care what anyone else says, I think it's cute that your conversion rate is below average" [pinches cheek playfully]

Where's that Mick McCarthy gif when you need it

Yeah smells like bullshit tbh. Wirtz is on £195k a week (with bonuses up to £245k) - and he was one of the most coveted players in Europe. No chance we'd put Ekitike on something close to that. Also saw that Ekitike at Frankfurt was on €67k/ £58k a week. We're not going to quadruple that

I'd imagine it'd be in the £120-150k range - at par with the likes of Szobo, Macca, Gravenberch, Gakpo

He's on about 86k per week at Frankfurt. No way we have given him that kind of increase. 120-150k sounds about right.
