Hugo Boss

If the club are to get full value from the Ektike transfer, then we need to get him to the point where he can start for the first team both at nine and at LW on merit. He'll be starting the next few games in her preferred role - after that, the best thing he can do is put on some effective performances on the left, meaning he can compete with Gakpo and Ngumoha for a starting role when Isak is fit and undroppable. I get the feeling that Isak will be a bit like Alison, world-class, but also prone to missing sections of the season, which is why we need quality in reserve. Also, once the CL starts and we're playing every three days, both players should realistically be playing a game a week. There's no point in overloading Isak. Newcastle had no option, but we can afford to be more careful.

Yeah I've been really surprised - again, and it's all positive. Seems like a proper positive dude and such a massive improvement to the squad. Looks more suited to our system then Isak, although it's very early days for that kinda talk.

It's early yeah but I've got to rate the attitude. He doesn't seem super arrogant with it, just has a lot of self-confidence and belief.

He is a little raw but in fairness, he's delivered so far.

I totally disagree with that, but it's great that this is even being argued about at this stage of his career, only 5 games in. I just hope the two of them can play effectively at the same time.

He's someone who is takes things in his stride, he just seems very cool about this whole playing for Liverpool thing.

I noticed in the "Inside Anfield" video, where you get interesting pitch level angles, that he made this same run a number of times and that on at least one other occasion he should have been spotted by Szob for another slide-rule pass of the type he got the goal from. I love that he has that clever movement to invite the pass from midfield (and remain onside!!), but he also has enough about him to create a chance for himself. So far he's been relatively flawless.

He couldn’t have done any more to ease any doubts I had about him.

I don’t think there will be much of a gap between him and Isak. The main difference is likely that Isak will get more high-quality shots away, which Ekitike can pick up during his time here. But if Ekitike keeps this form going, they’ll be pretty interchangeable with no sizeable drop-off, meaning, bar the exceptions of huge games, Slot can prioritise who has the freshest legs.

Seems a good lad and the fans are taking to him, not just because of his performances, but I think there's a degree that people were feeling a bit bad for him that he's signed, and then one of the best forwards in the world came straight after. His response to that has been faultless.

I’m still hoping they can play together. I’m just not a fan of Gakpo at all. I know he’s had some great moments in the past, but he’s such a one trick pony in attack and it feels like he’s hit his ceiling already. If Ekitike and Isak could interchange in the centre and left positions, they’re both quick and skillful so it could cause havoc to our opponents if it works.

And, based solely on today's showing, Chiesa. I saw more from him today than we've seen from Gakpo ever ... however I should note it was against a Stn B team.

I know what you mean, but I think you're exaggerating a bit. Gakpo has had some great performances in the past, but he's clearly not in form right now. And when you're out of form, you usually revert back to what you're good at, in his case, cutting in and shooting. So now it looks even more repetitive.
I'm a big fan of Chiesa, but I wouldn't start him on Saturday. This was his first full match since the Plymouth game, I think.

When have you ever known me to exaggerate ?!

He's class.

The one summer signing that we can already say is a big hit.

It would've been handy to see what he could do on the left last night but for the injury/cramp. He's that good he'll be fine on the left & most certainly a lot better than Gakpo.

He lost the ball quite a few times last night and struggled before he was taken off. But at the moment he is the only decent signing it appears, the rest are fucking shit.
