Hugo Boss

Wait what? It was our only good player's fault. That's an interesting take.
Yes. If he didn’t get himself sent off we beat Palace. Swings and roundabouts with form and at the moment he’s the form player and stupidly caused to have to shuffle the deck.

You’re saying if he had been available for Palace, we absolutely would have won?

I believe so yes.
Fair play, but I think it’s a little bit of a stretch to say we absolutely would have won.
Would we have had a better chance? Absolutely.
But then would Chiesa still have played if Hugo were selected. Not sure, and Chiesa did well.

He is here, and I can plot his lack of fitness and injuries quite easily. I can also point to him being part of the unbalance in our team. None of that changes my confusing on why we signed another forward, for a record breaking fee, when we had someone else already through the door. We have replaced Nunez twice and not Jota.

How can we get both in the same side and squeeze in Salah plus Wirtz? I think that’s impossible if you want a functioning side.

We lost Nunez, Jota and Diaz. I don't see any issues with 2 in the door. Especially with their versatility (both can play LW too). What would you expect us to do with 60+ matches a year and only one CF?! And if he's injured (cf. Isak)?

As for the price. To me that's immaterial. We wanted a top CF and a player whose trajectory suggests he could be a top CF. We got two. Whoopee !

I still think we should have done a "Caicedo" with Isak, and put that 140m into 3 other players . One could have been a lowest cost striker, but two should have been in the CB/CM space.

Let's see. I still think Isak is suited to a team that does fast breaks, and we get an increasingly lower number of these. Tekkers is well suited to a low block

Not buying Isak doesn’t mean we don’t buy anyone. That money could’ve got Guehi over the line and added a DM, LW and back-up forward.

Obviously we'll see how it goes, but if we kept the powder dry for a move for Alvarez next year, it could have been an option.

Fofana, guehi, random backup striker all together could have been Isak money and we would be in a much better shape.

Im hopeful it'll work out, but Isaks injury record was always a worry.

Because we signed Isak for post salah times? I thought that was obvious? I don’t think I am wrong there.
And as I said above, Isak proven in the league, Hugo more of a wild card in how long adaptation would take.

Salah is here for another season and three quarters. Isak was proven in a side that plays completely different to us so was also somewhat a wild card.
