… that in the last few days of the transfer window, Madrid will offer us Di Maria + around €15M for Suarez. Would you take it?

they can fuck right the fuck off .... 50 million euros + di maria (though I'd prefer Ozil, or Xabi - even if injured) and we can move him on.

Not a chance, that would value DiMaria at about €40m and he's not worth anywhere near that.

The problem for Real offering any player is .... do they want to go from potential La Liga and CL champions to a team not playing in Europe ? Highly doubtful (unless it's Xabi).

Rather have straight-up cash. Di Maria wouldn't replace the goals we'd be losing with Suarez.

Yep. I can't see Di Maria wanting to join us.
Also the valuation is a bot twisted.
And finally - if we sell Suarez we'll be in need of a striker. Who can we get before the window closes? And what budget will we have for that?
We should keep Suarez for one more season and get his replacement(s) in place.

Would I fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. 50mill and Di Maria and that could be their opening shot.

Awful deal.

I'm in the don't sell Suarez at all camp. Ozil is the only semi realistic player that would be appease me. Anyone else in their top tier of palyers is unrealistic. Even saying that, Ozil probably wouldn't come.

It's €55M + Xabi for me. Think Xabi, even at his age, can bring more to our game than Di Maria. And Di Maria is a bit of a cunt.

According to some sources on BBC gossip this morning Ozil may look for a move as he feels his place in the team may be effected by the signing of Bale. A valuation of 38M was mentioned. Doubt if he would come to us though.

Ozil or Di Maria and 40 mill would be a good deal imho.
The problem is we dont have the time to spend those 40 mill anyway so I wouldnt accept it.

Suarez is "rumoured" to be offered a new contract with a 60 mill release clause to CL teams. If true he'll want to do well this season to secure a move away next summer.

I'd be tempted with that if a) it was earlier in the window and b) Xabi hadn't just broken his foot.

Well, (a) Xabi is the master of the broken metatarsal and should bounce back in no time, and (b) If you go by some of the reasoning in this forum, a Xabi with a fractured foot can do a better job than some of our midfielders.

I took Brendan's words that a deal for Suarez is "unlikely to be successful" because it's so late in the window that we can't replace him as a hint that he would consider a cash+player deal from Real. I think from Real's standpoint Di Maria is expendable and yet he is still probably a better player than Willian or Costa or any other of our "ambitious" targets this summer.

The key difficulty will be convincing the player to join us, but I think it's not impossible. Somehow I think Ozil would snub us, but Di Maria would join after some protracted negotiations. Again, a "hunch."

Don't get me wrong, I am not arguing that this deal should happen. For one thing, I've never particularly been a fan of Di Maria. But I think it would make a lot of sense for all the parties involved and if the obstacle of the player's agreement can be overcome, I could well see it happening. Real will probably value Di Maria at around €40M, which would allow us to say that they reached our valuation of Suarez (£50-55M). Our club would probably be happy to solve the Suarez problem decisively instead of waiting for a new explosive chapter of this saga next summer and in Di Maria they could get a high-profile player who we would have no chance of signing otherwise plus some extra money for another centre-forward.

People who are thinking anybody is going to offer us £40M+ AND Di Maria or a player of similar caliber are not living in reality. And don't give me Bale as example. The price for Bale is astronomical because Florentino chose Bale as his "galactico" signing this year and when he wants a new toy, he gets it no matter the cost. Suarez is as good as Bale on the pitch, but as far as Real is concerned he is not a galactico and they won't value him at anything close to Bale or Ronaldo.

Di Maria is a cracking player. Probably worth 20m
So if we value Suarez at 55m then it would be 30m plus.

Eriksen - 12m
Di Maria
Greizmann - 18m

=

Suarez.

Id take that.

Never gonna happen mind you.
Because no player will leave Madrid to come to a team not even in Europe for probably less wages.

Suarez needs to stay till at least January.

According to Google, Di Maria's salary in 2012 was €3M. Less than Downing - crazy I know...

This late in the transfer window, I wouldn't sell Suarez unless we were guaranteed to sign two potentially comparable players to replace him. The simple reason being, we don't want to go into the season pinning all our hopes on a replacement settling in into the team. We have signed more than enough big name failures to know the risks involved in a like for like buying policy i.e. Aquaman to replace Xabi, Diouf to replace Anelka, Carroll to replace Torres (but in this instance we signed two players and thankfully one of them succeeded).

You know what - it's a World Cup next summer - that means prices will be inflated - fuck Madrid - the can pay us £75m for Suarez next summer.
