What did we make of Ibe in the Derby? Did Sky give him MOTM? He didn't look out of place, in what, his 2nd ever premiership game. Pity that shot didn't go in. Another young player for us doing well out of position. Does he retain his place for the game Tuesday?

Goes with this too... Believe the Hype

He looks a goal threat in a team that is currently struggling for goals. I want him in the team.

I'd love to see a front three of Sturridge, Ibe and Sterling backed up by Coutinho in midfield.

I don’t want him anywhere near the defensive areas of the pitch. He has all the ability in the world and showed that in flashes against Everton. But he is young and raw and whilst he might be ahead of Raheem in terms of ability at the same age, tactically he is light years behind Sterling at the same age. He was caught out a good few times position wise, and I thought that he did shirk the back tracking at times. Markovich definitely works harder defensively but is not as threatening in attack.

For me he is not a wing back and should not play there because its asking too much of him to defend, and takes away a lot of his attacking potential.

But right now I suspect he won’t get many games as part of the front 3 with Sturridge, Sterling, Lallana, Gerrard already playing there.

All in all a very good first premieship start and a real shame that the shot did not go in.

I was also thinking that, keen to see him play but would definitely prefer it not to be at wingback.

I'm assuming that the reason he was played there was to ease him in, bring him away from the contact zones a little, and give him more time and space on the ball.

Playing Markovich further forward didn't work, same with Can, but they were moved away from the goal they improved dramatically, despite the fact that they are both more suited to being further up the pitch.

I'm guessing that's the idea with Ibe, give him more time and space on the ball, let him develop a little confidence and he'll be moved further forward once he gains that game experience.

he definitely needs to feature in some capacity against Spurs.

He has an intensity about him that we don't really have beyond sterling and sturridge. Arsenal also showed how spurs struggled against Welbecks pace ( they mis-placed him in my opinion) which is again something were hardly over burdened by.

I presume he also played RWB so we could stick to a formation that has been working well for us. Henderson was another option to play there with Lazar on the bench but that would mean playing Gerrard deeper which we are trying to avoid. Manquillo was another option for us at RWB but Rodgers doesn't seem to be fully sure about him yet.

Start him again in the same position. Much like Sterling in the second half of last season, he's unknown to the rest of the league and brings fresh impetus to the side.

He better be good because he will be replacing Sterling in the first team next season.
And then ojo can replace Ibe when he leaves us for greener pastures

Then Phillips can replace ojo

Then when he leaves we're fucked

If we were still playing four at the back my guess is he'd have got more games. Wingback doesn't suit him as well as a straightforward fullback role.

I like the way he has a left foot as well. He looks like he has the ball control of Lallana which is great. Kids gonna be a star

He was consistently pretty good for Derby but he's not broken a sweat in his first two prem tests.. does this not just highlight how many more top prem team worthy players are lurking in the championship or is Ibe the exception to the rule?

Well, Derby replaced him with Thomas Ince who has 3 goals in 2 appearances for them.

He is only messing about before he goes to Barcelona though.
