Ibe vs Markovic

Who do you think is better?

I personally think that Markovic would have been a better option to have than Ibe.
However, in an ideal situation we would still have both in the team. I think Klopp is a bit pissed off that Markovic is out on loan.

I have some sympathy for Markovic, who was dicked around by Rodgers. If I had to choose one or the other right now I'd have to go with Ibe, who's unquestionably produced more, but I'd like to see Markovic get a chance under Klopp before any final decisions are taken.

To say "unquestionably" is a bit strong, but Ibe has been showing promise since Klopp took over.
Markovic has a bit more experience and has scored two league goals for us, but he's been moved around a bit like you alluded to.

Neither of them are good enough to hold down a first team place regularly yet but they both have a lot of potential. With Ibe only 19 and Markovic 21 there's plenty of scope for improvement and if they get opportunities to play in positions where they feel comfortable then there's no reason they can't get a lot better. You've got to expect inconsistency from young players as very few are spot on every week.
I'd be surprised if Klopp goes and spends a lot on wingers until he's had a chance to assess them properly. Kent ,Ojo and Wilson also come into this category of young upcoming wide/attacking players we have although they have played at a significantly lower level so far.

Ibe showed a fair bit more promise under Rodgers too, producing quite a few more good individual performances contributing to quite a few more good team displays than Markovic has managed, IMO at any rate. Goals scored are not the only measure of quality.

That said, Markovic hasn't really had a fair crack of the whip yet. I reckon there's (at least potentially) enough talent there to make it worth our while to put that right.

I don't want to turn this into a Rodgers bashing thread but it is bizarre that with all the wingers we have on our books we only had one left by the time the September transfer window had ended. It made no sense after buying Benteke.

I don't trust wingers. I really don't.
I mean I like tricky, fast paced players but more often than not they look better than they actually are.
Remember Paul Anderson and Adam Hamill?
Nabil El Zhar, Assaidi, Tom Ince etc.

I hope Ojo, Kent, Wilson etc become great wingers but history doesn't give me much hope.

I'd want to have them both in the squad. Different types of players with different strengths and weaknesses.

I have sympathy with Markovic. Played out of position, subbed early in games were he was doing well and then dropped again.
I dont think he's a bottler either. He's a young player with loads of potential.
It was obviously going to be a year with adapting anyway. Klopp can get the best out him.

The one player Klopp wants back from loan in January is Markovic. That according to the journos anyway.

Neither one of them has had a run of games in their natural position for us, so we're pissing in the wind with this one.

Even good wingers are dependent on what they have to aim at in the middle most of the time. Gone are the days of a winger on each flank crossing to the big centre forward to head in.

Yeah me too - Surely everyone gets a clean slate under Klopp? If he still doesn't rate him after working with him then fair enough. He came with a great reputation though and warrants another crack for sure.

I'm a massive Ibe fan but Lazar didn't get a fair chance, they should both be here.

Mad decision to let him go for a year with no option to recall.

Like how Ibe seemed to have hit the skids due to constant playing put of position, I think it happened to marko too

He'll come back next year and rip the living piss out of this league

Yeah ok, if he comes back and suddenly develops the subtleties of his position, like incisive passing, vision, the skill to take players on, the ability to score a few goals, etc.

He's shit.

Another one I called early. Markovic is totally unsuited to the demands of the PL. And he's shit.

He's not shit Mark. He's looked a kick and run merchant so far as the majority of the clips we saw of him prior to his arrival highlighted his running power. Clips of him bursting through the middle of a pitch in a league (Portugal) that afforded him the space to get away with this direct approach.

I do think there is a subtlety to his game and he is capable of incisive forward passing. It was ridiculous him going out on loan this year. We will learn nothing having him playing once again in an inferior league.

Markovic is clearly not shite. He was labeled one of the bigger talents around when we signed him.
Lets get him back, coached by Klopp and see where it takes us. He's a kid and havent even had the time to adapt to the league.

Writing him off as shite and a kick and run merchant is just wrong.

The talent is there. If you can't see it...
You expected a 20 year who joined a team devoid of confidence and leadership to come in and set the world alight?
I'm not saying that he's the best thing since sliced bread but he's got potential and he's still quite young.

Odd how Origi has looked less useful up top than Aspas (at least Aspas had a good season before and after us... Origi was wank in France) , and is afforded some sympathy and time, yet Markovic is shite

Truly perplexing
