January transfer window - last week activity

So 48 hours for Sunderland to work out a replacement and get the deal agreed plus paperwork done, Leipzig to request the loan return and Sunderland to accept. Liverpool to agree loan terms and right to buy option plus player to agree terms.

What could go wrong?

(Yes I do realise some of this will already have been under way, just being my usual sarcastic self)

It's unlike us to get involved into complex deals over the last day of transfer window when we had previous 6 weeks to do it.

You’d think it can move quite fast.

Sunderland will seek a compensation fee from Liverpool before allowing Lutsharel Geertruida to rejoin Arne Slot at Anfield.

Initial talks have taken place between Sunderland and Liverpool, who will also have to negotiate with RB Leipzig.

Sunderland are not expected to stand in Geertruida’s way, given the potential size of the move, however they are keen to line up a replacement before they agree to the defender’s departure.

So, hang on... He's on loan at Sunderland and they're happy to get rid of him so he can join us? I'm not expecting much here.

That said, it's better than nobody, which is what I was anticipating.

Maybe it's a financial thing.

Not happy. Read the comment from the Sunderland fans. Its more what the player wants and Sunderland wont stand in his way.
We wont be getting a much better short term loan imho.

That’s key key if we want to deploy him at RB considering how open we have been.

He's also very good 1 vs 1, great in build up and extremely good in the air. Getting in a 6'1 RB is something we need given how the league is this season. We need to have a few ugly wins to get the CL spots.
Reevaluate this summer under a new manager.

He’s not that good or he’d be at a bigger club already but if he’s solid she stays fit that’ll be huge.

Hopefully can join the CL squad too.

Nah, all the obvious aside they are looking for a more dedicated CB than can cover RB which I suspect is why they're ok with a swap.

They brought Mukiele in the summer at the same time they loaned Geertruida and it seems they fancy him more at RB so Geetruida has been playing RCB

I don’t think he has been that good from limited I seen. Let’s be honest, he is coming here as he is available, we don’t have any options Slot trusts outside of Frim and knows Slot.

Watched him against Spurs and he was excellent. Also good in the games against Arsenal and City.

Think he comes here cause he sees it as an upgrade and Sunderland can be convinced of a change to the loan.

I mean, it's great we are trying to bring in someone. But why do we have to wait until the last day again?

Just sell the kid so he can either shut us up and become a good player, or fade away into obscurity.

Can loan him out first now that he's finally fit. His last loan moves have not worked out, so a few months in the Championship might give us a better look at him.

Palace have had a bid of a guaranteed £43m, plus £5m in add-ons for Strand Larssen accepted

Presumably that allows Mateta to go to Milan

Good player and a good move for Palace. Overpriced but thats the market.
