January transfer window - last week activity

I take it all back regarding Palace and being good at signing players.

100 mill £ on Strand Larsen, Brennan Johnson and McNeil. Crazy!

i suppose there’s a slim chance he hasn’t really been arsed with contract negotiations for family reasons too but it’s difficult not to conclude he’s off

I lost my Dad last May. At 53 I'm technically an orphan. It does make you do a bit of soul-searching and also helps you to prioritise matters in life. It also robbed me of any motivation to do anything for a while (I'm not a "do it for Dad" kind of guy).
After Ibou scored the other night, every single one of his team-mates ran to him and gave him a massive group hug - the depth of feeling was obvious (Chiesa looked like he was going to burst). I'm kind of hoping he'll look at that and question whether it's such a good idea to leave that behind. This group of mates who genuinely care for him. I'm hoping he'll also look at how quickly things turned sour for Trent in Madrid.
I had a mental list in my head of all the people I thought would turn up for my Dad's funeral and with two exceptions (who both wanted to be there and have supported me since) they were all there. Not for my Dad, only one of them had ever met him, but for me. It told me that I knew who my friends were. We've had loads of players down the years who came here with no attachments and stayed because they felt a sense of belonging. Many of them saw out their careers here and others came back to the area even after finishing their careers elsewhere. I remember Sami Hyypia saying before his final game that he didn't think it would be a big deal to leave and then it hit him at the end just what he was leaving behind. I hope Ibou has that sort of moment in the next few months (ideally before he commits to moving on).
Then again, I remember Trent staring in wonder and excitement at his first PL medal on that platform, they put in the stands during Covid. It made me wonder how on earth he could leave a club that might deliver a few more moments like that for him, so what the fuck would I know?

Im not sure of moving back to France is for his father. More about his mother I think. Maybe he wants to be closer to her.
Also, it might explain his poor start to this season.
