There’s a pile of players who haven’t played loads of minutes that should be fresh and we’ve managed rotation while giving enough minutes to maintain match fitness across the team.

What if the players we want aren’t available right now - would you have us compromise quality and then miss out on better players because of it?
Tell who do we have that could come in if we have two of our CBs out? I am only asking for a defender. Conor, Konate, Tsimikas and Gomez are injury prone. Robbo and Trent are prone to brain farts. Can Morton play CB or RB?

As to your question... How do we know when a player is available until the club bids for him?

I'll never forget Klopp limping to the Jan window with us top of the league (a crazy achievement), we all breathed a collective sigh of relief figuring that reinforcements were on the way... and... we got nothing. January wrote off the season and for some reason we ended up with two pointless deadline deals for players whose names I can't even remember.

Anyways, very different circumstances but definitely think we could do with a player or two this window to help us over the line. Can't see it happening though. Fingers crossed we see a different outcome this time around.

It would nice, but I'm not optimistic.

They'll expect Chiesa to do more and then maybe Bajectic returning. There's hardly any more room in the squad without outgoings.

If Trent goes we'll have to act.

I think Steve returning would at least placate me to an extent but he is being loaned out to a Spanish outfit

Ok, look, transfers don’t work like they do on Football Manager, you get offered players, you enquire and in our case why do you think we pay loads of agent fees for transfers.

Again - you’re looking for a 3rd choice RB, a 3rd choice LB and a 5th choice CB - it’s hardly a critical position and it sounds like one a youth player or several youth players could fill.

I’ve said this before, I’m not that into us signing anyone that isn’t capable of holding down a regular starting position in our team versus whoever is currently in it - so if we’re signing anyone LB, then I want him to be potentially better than Robbo, ditto the other positions.

That’s not easy, particularly in January, but I don’t want to sacrifice quality for the sake of it - you just end up decreasing the money pot for the summer.

By all means, get in a loan player if it’s someone you desperately don’t really want to have to play.

If one of our primary targets is available and at the right price, then we’ll likely do business.

150m give or take. Can't ever have exact figures because we're not privy to what's paid out in add ons. You're playing a pretty stupid character here Stevie I must say.

They all spent a shitload more than us, let's leave it as that shall we.

No, let’s not quite leave it there because the absolute point is, they’ve all spent shitloads and are doing worse than us - Spurs are actually worse than last season. Utd are the most obvious example - none of Arsenal’s signings have been any good either.

If you can’t see that buying loads of players doesn’t necessarily equate to improvement then you’re either beyond thick or you’re just a troll.

Hughes record at Bournemouth means he does have an eye for talent, I am sure he has the next Kerkez or Dean Huijsen on his list. There is plenty of talent out there in the £20-30m range that are better than Robbo and rotate with Conor or allow VVD a rest or two

That 5th choice CB just got a lot more critical.
In an ideal situation we'd have a highly talented youth player ready to go, but we don't.
So I think it's time to buy or it's VVD who's going down next.

£20m will get us Tomori and £5-7m would get us Olivier Boscagli

FSG, Edwards and Hughes about to take this club back to the dizzy lows pre Klopp.

No players coming in Jan. Probably finish 2nd with no trophies after being ravaged by injuries every fucker saw coming and then some.

Prepared to keep reading/hearing: right player(s) not available, don't want to hinder the route to 1st team for Nallo, Nyoni and Danns etc. 😵

Where’s @MomoWASright!!!!

This site is suffering a major bout of Hystericalfannyitis… it needs fixing!!!
I did a post about how we actually played last night.

I mentioned that our full backs and Jota were rusty. They’re not going to magically get fit by buying new shiny things.

We still have two players for every position bar LCB.

We are top of the league, champions league, basically got a bye into the 4th round of the FA cup and face a spurs team with a spursy manager coming to Anfield who needed an incompetent ref to have a lead.

I would still buy Hato and integrate him as a LB with the potential to slot in at LCB if needed.
Doubt we'll sign anyone for the midfield slot, so Slot will have to trust Endo more in the second half of the season.

I wouldn’t be against it and I wouldn’t be stamping my feet if it didn’t happen. Like I said in the summer we will have a revolving door. Our squad is probably the right size so one out and one in.

We aren’t going to get anyone paying for Nunez or Tsimikas so just deal with it.

I’ll tell you what we need more than anything this January…

@Brizzle to get that fucking FA Cup pre-match thread started before Dreamie takes it upon himself to fuck our season right up the jacksie again by spaffing out his own pre-match thread!!!

How about we loan Nunez to Milan and they loan us Tomori? I know it won't happen, but its worth looking at. Low cost, low risk option.
