JAR is back!

I remain of the opinion that his loss of form was due to Rafa's inability to put the proverbial *arm* around his players.

Riise is a *confidence* player and Rafa didn't instill any in him.

To be fair he'd been poor for a while and it culminated in that OG. Sure over the top reactions from some, including myself of course. So I guess I've been somewhat of a cunt for ages.
Fixed that for you.

Good luck to Johnny Rockets.

Riise til I die.

All those cunts that condemned him for that own goal can get fucked.
Haha yeah whatever...

Best LB I've seen for Liverpool.

Riise was a quality player who was part of our finest defence in decades, started the come-back with a lovely cross in Istanbul, and hit some of the best freekicks I've ever seen.

Yeah, he started to deteriorate towards in his last season, but as others have said, he deserves to be fondly remembered.

Will no doubt recieve a fine reception he deserves also....
Hopefully from all the dead heads who slagged him off to death following his oggy against Chelsea.
Yep because he really meant that.

Everytime someone talks about that own goal a vein in my forehead pops out

Wank.

He just wasn't a very good footballer.

Haha, bollocks, and the both of you miserable cunts can get fucked.

JAR was a fucking great player for us though it went off rail in his last 2 seasons. Still love/d him.

I think his 'vulnerability' at the back was always wildly overstated. I don't remember very many wingers getting past him - certainly none of the rapings we've subsequently seen at LB since his departure.

His main flaws was not his defensive abilities, but his complete reliance on his left foot and propensity to shoot too often.

Disagree. Even in his best days JAR too often left acres of space behind him and had to be bailed out by Sami or try to rescue the situation with a hasty tackle, which he often (not surprisingly) mistimed. The comparison with his successors doesn't have any relevance to the question whether or not there were gaps in his own game.

I agree with this.

But Barry Ferguson was.

Loved Riise. Some unbelievable goals and matches for us in his time. A true Red as well.

I'm sure he'll get a standing ovation when he returns to Anfield.

Nice to see him back in the Premier League.
