Ross is bang on about Rafa and the 'oh, he had to sell players to buy' bollocks.
People forget that half the time he fucked up in the first place with buys. If he hadn't squandered so much and had spent it well in the first place we wouldn't have ended up in such a position.
Have a look at our team from 5 years ago, it's unrecognisable from the team now. Actually, have a look at the team two seasons later, it was barely recognisable then, because we were constantly buying bit part players and overspending on players that either weren't good enough or just didn't fit the system. The season he bought Dosenna, Riera and Robbie Keane (and that shit Brazilian keeper for £3m) we should have won the league, we ended up finishing 2nd with the only real positive out of a £40m outlay being a half decent left winger who lasted little more than a season.
Soz, poor Rafa had to sell Alonso (not his fault at all, honest) and Mascherano. I guess it's someone else's fault we bought the shite above, Alberto and a defender that can't defend. I know we balanced the books (blah blah, before someone starts banging on about how well we did in selling players) but we still spent £80m on shite.
