Whats going on? He seems to have just vanished into the wilderness. It doesn't look like we're trying to sell or loan him, but he's certainly not close to the starting line up, whats the game?

I thought we'd see more of him, he seemed like a good match for the new system, however i'm guessing Rodgers can't rate him highly, either that or he sees him as backup. I hope he stays and gets some time, he should be a squad player as there clearly is potential there, ahead of Adam thats for sure, everyone knows i'm a fan though, most of you will probably just want him gone?

Maybe keeping him out of the firing line to build his confidence? This new system needs everyone wanting and demanding the ball, the thought might be that with fragile confidence he'll hide and away affect the whole system?

Surely it's too soon to tell what Brendan Rodgers thinks of him. There's not really any such thing as one single first eleven any more. Even if there were, it's too early in Rodgers' tenure to see what his idea of that might be.

I don't agree that he's "sh!t" BTW. I think there is potential there. The question is whether we can bring it out of him.

We are still pretty well stocked with midfielders, Id put shelvey ahead of him in the pecking order, if we move on Spearing and Adam then he will still get plenty of games

I think this is what's happening...or I hope it is. Can't separate those feelings anymore re LFC. I still have hope for him to become, at least, good. Rodgers wants to give Allen, Gerrard and Lucas à proper chance- if someone falls out: Enter Henderson.

He's an average player who's not good enough to get into the first 11, hardly surprising. If we are going to play a midfield 3 then unless through injuries, suspensions or general tiredness he's never going to replace lucas, allen and gerrard.

I like that one.
Let's not play our 16M pound midfielder in case he accidentally finds himself in possession of the ball and has a mental breakdown. Or tries to hide from the players and 45000 spectators by curling himself around the corner flag with his head in his hands.
Ha!

Perhaps if take him to the banks of the Mersey and sacrifice him to Cthulhu, the Deep Ones, blasphemous fish-frogs of the nameless design, will attack our competitors with renewed vigour.

Or keep him on the bench in case one day they do a remake of Shine on Harvey Moon and base an episode at Anfield in the middle of a game. Bring him on and, hey presto! Back to the good old days of music hall, massive economic depression and everyone dying young of readily preventable diseases.

I see he's off on more pressing assignments for Queen and country. I must say though that's one very impressive Andy Carroll mannequin they have there.

Haha I was thinking that while typing! Seems odd that there's been no talk of him leaving if not involved much, does just look like he'll just be used as a back up

So what, we sell him back to Sunderland for 5m or something?

I think we'd get about 3m. But I did predict this transfer the minute we bought him. He's utter toss.

I just got back from the Carlisle Tranmere game. Tranmere won 3-0. There were a few players there who are clearly better than Henderson. I just don't get what I'm missing.

People have said all sorts of nice things about him but to me he is the worse signing of the lot - you really don't notice him on the pitch when he is playing - infact when he came on for England against Italy - I missed the substitution and was shocked when the commentators mentioned his name. Point is Woland - your really not missing much from my point of view, but Modo has some good reasons as to why he is such a poor player.

Henderson: I've become a man

August 22, 2012
By Mike Whalley

Jordan Henderson has declared that a difficult first season at Liverpool made him "become a man" and insists that he has learned from his experiences.

Henderson managed 31 Premier League starts last season after arriving from Sunderland for around £16 million, but struggled to hold down his favoured position in central midfield despite a long-term injury to Lucas Leiva.

The 22-year-old showed glimpses of his ability in an unfamiliar role on the right flank, but was still a surprise inclusion in Roy Hodgson's England squad for Euro 2012.

"I think there were a lot of positives to be taken out of my first full season," he told Liverpool's official website. "Admittedly there were also a lot of ups and downs but I learnt a lot and I became a man in that time.

"I've just got to use all the experience that I gained in that year and hope that this can be a better year for me. Obviously all of us as players are disappointed if we haven't played very well or we've got beaten.

"But you've just got to go away and stay positive and keep training hard, keep working hard and eventually it will come right for you. I look to kick on every season. This season is no different."
Henderson feels his England experiences over the summer, which came when he was called up as a replacement for the injured Frank Lampard, have also helped his development.

"I was delighted when the call came," said Henderson, who came on as a substitute in the opening group game against France and the quarter-final defeat on penalties against Italy. "It was a massive experience. Being there with these types of players gives you more confidence when you go and play at the highest level."

For his sake and the money spent on him, I really hope he'll do a 'Lucas'. Hard to see it happening without regular football though.

Ha ha - I'm still laughing out loud here.

I think Henderson will play a decent amount of games this year. In a 4-3-3 it helps if you're midfielders have good fitness, a good attitude and do the simple stuff well. He has that.

There's definitely room for him here, but he has to play with more confidence and get involved an awful lot more.

I don't know if he's better off as a backup to Lucas (bye Spearing) or a backup to Gerrard further up in the AM role. In fact, he's such a phantom in most games I hardly know it when he's on the pitch most of the time. He's shown flashes of promise on the rare occasion but he needs to stop flashing and start shining longer.
