urgen Klopp admits he wants his transfer business done quickly this summer.
Liverpool were rapid in their work last year, with Gini Wijnaldum the final arrival on July 22 – three weeks before the Premier League season started.
Although there was an attempt to sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund later in the window, the Reds’ work in the market generally reflects Klopp’s belief of tying up as many deals as soon as possible to integrate the new signings into training.
And with the German coach admitting he has held talks with potential arrivals ahead of 2017/18 already, he is keen to have his squad in place ahead of the big kick-off on August 12.
When asked if it is important business is done early, Klopp said: “If you ask me as a private person, I would say as soon as possible.
“But I’m long enough in the business to know that’s only kind of a dream. We will see when we are finished, but we will tell you when we are finished.
“It’s probably really likely that we will have to do a lot of things during our holiday but that’s how it is, maybe in the pre-season, I don’t know. We have to see.
“That depends on who you can get and when. Different things can happen. That’s how it is, and we have to react.”
Liverpool are in a battle for the top four, knowing two wins from their final two games confirms Champions League qualification.
Whether they reach Europe’s premier competition or not is likely to shape their summer, with hopes of signing Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita dependent on qualifying for the tournament.
