So, it looks like Diaz is off. First he posts something that could look like a farewell message, and now his wife has done the same. Add in this from tonight and it looks like we are going to need a new left winger.

Saudi clubs has him on the top of their list and Barca are interested. Hopefully a fee north of 70 mill.

Will be interesting to see who we go for as our new left wizard.

He was always going to leave. If you are a left winger at Liverpool and you find yourself doing a job as a 9 it means you need to polish up your CV, because you're about to go.

I can see the logic in it too. I don't see him being better two years from now. We need a 9 though, and we need gakpo to be more durable.

It'll be three forwards out and two in.

Diaz played more as a 9 than a LW this season.

He definitely offered us something different. But a new 9 is needed.

Gakpo, Wirtz, Jones and Rio will be covering that left side.

I dont expect Chiesa, Jota or Nunez will be hanging around.

Its an area we are well stacked.

Diaz played 31 games out left. 15 as a 9.

Wirtz won’t play out left. Jones shouldn’t either.

If Diaz leaves we’ll sign a new left midfielder.
The new 9 will be signed regardless.

I suppose the optimistic take is that we'll get a shiny new LW just as good if not better than Diaz but a few years younger.

The pessimistic take is that this was always part of the funding for Wirtz and that he'll have to fill in there as well at 10.

I'll choose to believe the former. We've certainly been linked to a few suitable options.

Hopefully Gakpo can stay fit next season and Rio is ready to deputise also. I don’t think we’ll buy a LW.

yup i had a similar take but my optimistic side hopes that slot, evidenced by his fancy tactical presentation to wirtz, knows exactly what he wants and diaz isn’t key to it.

Well if we have seen the last of Lucho then I wish him nothing but the best, great character, fully committed - don't have a bad word to say about him, really hope he gets his wish and lands at Barca rather than Al Nassr which would be a shame.......but so be it I guess.

Give Gakpo almost exclusive rights to the LW spot (like we have done with Salah on the other side), Chiesa will be in shape from the start of the season so could well see more of him, promote Rio if needs be....would love to see more of him anyway.

100% we should be using the cover to improve our options in the defensive spine, Stiller and Collins would be fabulous.

Am not sure if any of these names would match to what Lucho brought upfront, either as a LW or a 9. I think it will not be easy to replace him.

With Villa missing out on CL and being in a bit of shit with PSR, it might be possible. Rogers would be a great addition.
Can cover all 3 positions behind the striker as well.
