[article]Celtic star Georgios Samaras said his farewell to Celtic by celebrating their title success with a heart-warming tribute to a brave young fan.

Samaras leaves Parkhead after six years and signed off in an emotional manner – by making 11-year-old Hoops fan Jay Beatty’s day.

The Greek international paraded Beatty, who has Down’s Syndrome, around the pitch as the Glasgow club celebrated their third consecutive league triumph.

Samaras and his manager Neil Lennon embraced the crowd as they enjoyed their lap of honour, before the departing striker plucked the youngster from the stands to take him on a journey around the pitch in front of 60,000 fans.

Celtic boss Lennon also contributed to Beatty’s incredible day, by handing the youngster his title medal as celebrations continued.

The brave young fan is no stranger to the Celtic stars, having previously met them in his home town of Tannaghmore, and look visibly overjoyed at being able to take part in the party.

“I first met Jay in Ireland,” Samaras said after their final match of the season – a 3-1 victory over Dundee United.

“He is a very special little boy, a massive Celtic fan and a huge inspiration. The whole team were very proud to have him with us today.”[/article]
