Ok, this is more a stream of consciousness than a well thought out & considered post, but fuck it, the latter would be lost on a lot of you anyway!

Apparently, when asked, someone at the club has said that the work done in Dubai wasn't for now, it's for the games in two months time.

That, plus the way we've been playing since, & the injuries, suggest to me that Klopp has done another mini pre season loading training.

If so, it would explain a lot, &, if it works as intended, could be the difference come April.

Alterrnatively, the points we've lost over the last few games could equally cost us.

Nobody knows yet, so fuck it.

We've drawn five games this season, lost only one & won NINETEEN of twenty five played.

That is a fucking phenomenonal record, it's seriously impressive!

Yes, its fucking frustrating that we've lost momentum, that citeh will go top after the bitters inevitably roll over, but no, it does not mean we have lost the league.

When they win on Wed citeh will be top on goal difference, we will have the same amount of points, in second, with a game in hand to play.

This is the worst we've played all season, yet we're drawing games. When citeh have been at their worst they've been losing them, yet apparently all of a sudden we're the ones suffering a crisis. Bollocks.

We're missing so many players in vital positions & at least six of the usual first eleven badly out of form at the same time too, that to carry on winning like a machine as we were previously would be an actual miracle.

The fact that we're still picking up any points at all with all that is quite remarkable.

Yes, of course there could be questions asked of Klopp, why he let Clyne go, or whether that training in Dubai was too much at this stage of the season & has contributed to injuries, but let's face it, until this season has played out none of us will know the answers to if they were major mistakes & if they will truly cost us.

If we turn this on its head, & put the draws in our first five games, & leave all other results the same, then we'd all be fucking convinced that we'd be winning the league & the tide of emotion would be overwhelming, which is a huge part of the problem here.

Just like in 2014, our fans are being carried by emotion, whether positive or negative, letting it cloud their judgement, & it's fucking ridiculous, take a step back, get a fucking grip of yourself, get behind these lads & enjoy the fucking ride, as we seriously challenge for the league over a full season for the first time this century.

Look, after the disappointment of last night, I've settled down.

And I think we were extremely fortunate to even get a point last night. If this is our blip, we've done really well to get it out the way with 2pts.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea beat City at the weekend. And then a win against Bournemouth and at OT and everything is looking great.

However, I can't help but feel still that the decision to let Clyne go was a massive fcuk up. Watching Milner get raped by both Zaha and Anderson is evidence of that. If Joe Gomez was fit, it wouldn't be so much of a problem as he has the pace to support Milner playing at RB and sweep up. Joel Matip does not. And that right hand side is a clear weakness.

Hopefully Milner doesn't have to play against Ibe/Fraser at the weekend again.

That aside, the main worry is not not winning, it is the way we are playing. That is the major concern. We need to start playing well and looking like a dominant team again.

There's 13 gameweeks left of the league season. I wonder whether we should scrap the "patient, patient" approach soon and go back to the "intense" gengenpress football? Have we got the energy in our legs and gametime rest between games to finish the season strong now? I wonder.

Good post. Marathon rather than a sprint and other apt cliches apply.

The players all looked jaded last night and I've no idea if it was because of the Dubai trip or the frantic Christmas schedule or anything else to be honest. I really hope we pull it back together over the next few games or we're in trouble. Surely if Cardiff can beat Bournemouth then we can even if it is with a makeshift team but who knows as Wimbledon beat West Ham but we really struggled against them.

It's because too many don't realize it's NOT a joke. Think they can just be negative. There's an art to the anti-jinx and we've not been on form with it the past week. I'm committed to upping my anti-jinx game.
I've never expected anything other than a complete capitulation. It's just later this year than expected

The tubes are never wrong

Dare I say we're also missing Lovren. Lovren has a bit of a personality and some fight in him, whereas Matip is a bit of a wimp.

Need to have both him and TAA back - I think we'll rediscover some form.

As an aside, the fan base needs to collectively calm down. A lot of football to be played, and a lot of big moments yet to come. The title race will go down to the last 3-4 games from the looks of it, so let's be prepared for that. We never do it the easy way in any case!

However, I can't help but feel still that the decision to let Clyne go was a massive fcuk up. Watching Milner get raped by both Zaha and Anderson is evidence of that.

I’ve not studied his performance with great detail but he was at fault for both goals at the weekend. First one stood off his player and allowed the cross to come in and the second he played the attacker onside.

If it is true he was a bad influence or he just didn’t have the right attitude it was the correct decision at that time to let him go.

On Milner, Klopp said in the post match confidence that he wasn't going to play as he was ill. Even so :

1) He was not responsible for their goal
2) I don't remember a glut of West Ham chances coming from his area (through my memory is shit, so stand to be corrected)
3) In the two matches he has played left back, he assisted two goals, from positions that Clyne would have been nowhere near

Im not being all neggy, but we seem to have lost all momentum.
Since Jan 1st we
Lost to City
Lost to Wolves
Drew with Leicester
Drew with West Ham
We scraped a 1-0 against Brighton and beat palace by the skin of our teeth.

We have kept 1 clean sheet in that time vs Brighton
Weve scored 9 and conceeded 9

We won all 8 matches in December keeping 5 clean sheets.
We scored 23 goals and conceeded 3

If this form isnt alarming I dont know what is.

Yes we are still in the league and champions league races, but our form is god awful and the way we are going about things is haphazard at best.

We should have strengthened in January imho.

Would anyone not swap our position for Citys right now if they had our eskwad and us theirs?

They are far better equiped to kick on from here than we are.

Im still happy with where we sit, but 3 point gap or not, they are in the box seat.

We look tired and more worryingly we look disinterested. Yesterday only Mane and Robertson looked like they REALLY wanted it.

Attitudes need adjusting. Results are a by product of effort and application.

Its not meltdown time, but its a worry.

Whilst I get what you're saying & I don't blame him at all, I blame the fact that we don't have TAA in the side for a LOT of our problems.

The job our full backs do is massive, a lot of people say Firmino makes us tick, which has a lot of truth in it, but I'd argue our full backs drive our entire style of play.

Without TAA, Robbo has looked poor as well. That's not a coincidence at all, cos teams have been rotating their players onto dealing with him, which is much easier when you don't have an equally large threat on the other side, & means he's constantly got fresher legs chasing him down.

Clyne couldn't do the job TAA does, so let's not pretend he can, the advantage of keeping him would have been being able to play Fabinho/Milner/Hendo in midfield in these recent games, which would almost certainly have helped out that side of our play.

I think I read that TAA will be ready to play for the game after Bournemouth. I fucking hope so, in fact, I hope it makes a miraculous recovery & is fit to play this weekend.

I never believe that any Liverpool player is "disinterested" as a general rule. Are you saying that Milner has the wrong attitude or doesn't care?

I think maybe there's a belief issue, or nerves, or just being unable to change the course of a game - and that is a mental attitude, I suppose - but not caring? Nah.

An excellent post.

I think they look leggy, & fucking knackered, mentally & physically.

That would tie in with the idea that the Dubai trip was that intense 'loading' training that they do pre-season.

If so, then the injuries to key players & the way we're playing suggest that perhaps it was a step too far in the intensity at this stage of the season.

In many ways it's much better if that is the case though, cos we can expect that to change as they regain match fitness, we just have to hope we're still in a position to fight for the league when they do.

I certainly wouldn't swap being three points ahead with being three points behind.

Amazing how no one gave a shit when we were looking good, but now we're iffy it hits too close to the truth

This is why it's annoying actually. People who do it call it successful anti-jinxing when we win, and when we don't try to make it look like they called it correctly.

Intense loading training? They came back fucked because some of them got sick. Virgil and Milner are both ill.
