Let's play the shame game

Modo

A contentious scando

It's 9 pages long!!!!

I read enough to happily see that I nominated Steve Nicol and Nomad nominated Stanley Matthews, but then got bored. Can you summarise in the style of Momo in the OFMW thread

Great reading

Rurikbird comes out of it with an even greater regard! Hansern too. 737 Max as well!
Some people said he would be the next Martin Jol (funny in fairness)

See if you can spot yourself!

Other less keen comments

"Half the team will be demanding transfers within a week of his arrival."

"If I thought Amorim a gamble then this guy is like putting your house on a roll of the dice at craps."

"I would love it if we got Poch, surely he gonna be free after this season at Chelsea ?"

"The Dutch Brendan. Fucking unbelievable"

"I can usually convince myself somethign is a good idea. This though? I don't see it"

"I'll not believe any manager links until I see them with the scarf. I also think whoever comes in is doomed from the very start.
Doomed, I say. Doomed."

"At least I may have a chance of getting a ticket next season..."

"In short, slot machine odds. Good luck."

"Everything I read makes it sound worse. I woke up this morning and was ready to give the idea a chance, but god damn"

"Would you throw him into the Bernabeu ? You wouldn’t. So why would anyone throw a noob into Anfield then ? We aren’t some mid table club like Spurs where you can beta test your Ange or Slotball."

"Thats the headline when we are 20th in the new CL format. "Liverpool Slot Drop out of Europe"

"Fucking hate this. Hopefully he proves me wrong."

"I'm not thrilled about his potential appointment but it really is slim pickings out there, with Alonso, Nagelsmann and Emery off the market."

"So basically we are going get one of those Pep Wanabe managers rather than someone who will bring new and unique ideas to the table and an identifying style that makes us slightly different. Fuck this."

"Very underwhelmed and seems an unnecessary gamble. Fuck it, next season was most likely going to be shite anyway. Ya this is just not the fucking guy. Will end horribly."

"Dutch Brodge."

"Yeah he's defo a tory"

"What a horrible fucking twat. He loves himself more than brodge"

"This dude is talking about himself like he's about to be floated on the nasdaq"

"So is he going to be our Moyes"

" The biggest issue I have with Slot ... not that I haven't mentioned this before ad nauseum ... is that he has only ever performed in the Dutch league. Come on Edwards, rub my face in it, you know I'll love it if you do.

"Yea. Slot. I don’t like him. Just don’t. Can’t. Won’t. I don't like his head"

One lad said this! I mean this poster is impressive...
" Will be fun to revisit this thread when he delivers us the league. Slot’s it home"

Positive posters

"My Feyenoord and Liverpool supporting mate (he's from Rotterdam but spend some time in England) said Slot would be a great fit for us"

"I'm all in on Arnie"

"I know nothing about Slot but he seems like a good manager from what I've read."

"He looks like a cross between Nigel de Jong and the main baddie in Dune. For that reason, I am in"

"What I like about this is that he plays a similar style to Kloop. Less of a change for the players"

"The fact that Slot told Spurs to fuck off last year tells me that in the absence of Xabi *never getting a second chance you cheap suave cunt*
"Alonso, this guy is the new messiah. And I should know, I've followed a few."

"The Bloke knows how to win. He clearly has a little of the special sauce."

"SLOT QUAD SQUAD"

"If… and it is an IF… he can translate his set up, coaching and thinking to us, then I can see why we’ve gone with him. All the things we’ve whinged about this season get fixed - FB’s defending meaning were tighter at the back, less goals conceded, more control of games, Slobbers allowed a more creative attacking role…" (vey prescient post).

"Give the guy a chance."

And finally..

"I wish everyone would stop with the Slot shaming on here."

Just noticed I also nominated Matt Beard.

Why, oh why, does the club never listen to my advice?

I’ll self-shame myself by admitting I thought Hodgson made sense at the time. Mostly because I believed he was diplomatic enough to soothe tensions between owners, players and fans, and despite Benítez’s best intentions, it was becoming unsustainable. But I didn’t appreciate then the full extent of the conditions Benítez was working under, or just what a twat Roy is: small time, arrogant and a terrible tactician completely unsuited to big clubs.

I can't remember what I thought of Slot, but I certainly joined in on the standard SCM witch hunt when Slot dared to aim his watch at the camera in Ibiza. Everyone felt like a massive step-down after Xabi.

I did search for myself. I was pretty in on Alonso and said I'd be 'OK' with Amorim (ooops, that was before he stated he had no plan B).

I didnt have an opinion on Slot.

But a lot of the same posters who were saying Wirtz is a risky signing, are the same as who thought Slot would be a failure.

I wasn't keen on Amorim at all. I didn’t know much about him, but when people started going on about playing a 5-2-3 formation, or whatever it was, and having Trent on the wing, that’s when I knew he wasn’t the right person for us. I think I mentioned that we didn’t have the right players in the squad to play that kind of system.

However, I did not foresee him being this bad at Man U.

Looks like I was all in on Emery. Though to balance that I was dead against Amorim - this forums favourite! 😲🤪😂

I thought we'd have the players as a good base. But then, he probably would have fucked it.

It wasn't in that thread (I think it was the big pizza pie thread), but when everyone started obsessing on how Amorim could fashion a 3-4-3 formation with our players I slagged you all off and stated that any manager worth his salt would not try & force fit us into such a formation from the off, and would, most likely, continue with a 4-3-3, or something similar, until he had time to purchase the right players and properly coach his squad.

I still stand by that, but would put a bit more emphasis on the bolded bit
