HAL, run Frying Pan: Fire scenario

'Certainly Dave, but I don't think you will like the results'
Ha. Ultimately if we are sold we are debt free. We might not be Mansour or Abramovich cash rich, but maybe just maybe we can spend what we earn again!
That would be my ideal scenario actually. Seeing Mansour's baby face makes me want to vomit. I don't want anyone like him running Liverpool FC any more than I want Hicks and Gillette.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

According to this in April

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304355804575157592502959182.html
17% of NESV was valued between 170 and 200 million USD.

That should make it about 1 billion USD in total value. I'm not sure a company that size would be able to do a lot more than just buy out the debt from RBS and the equity from H&G. That in itself would be 60% of the company value. Stadium etc, will be beyond them for sure. I hope they were not already highly leveraged too.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

The equity has no value. And really with the way we're drawing crowds at the moment putting a stadium on the long finger might not be a bad idea

Re: Club Refinance Thread

If they plan to build the stadium, and dont saddle the club with the debt of buying the club, im all for it.

I dont care about plaything owners. Just somebody who can run the club well. Arsenal seem to be the way to go.

Go new Yanks!

The Boston connection does feel right though.
It does. With some stretch you could say that Boston is the LFC of Major League Baseball and the hated rivals NY Yankees are Man U. Well, more like Man U and Chelsea combined into one.

And they are Red too...

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Liverpool Red Sux.

This doens´t feel right but still a slight relief. But I´m afraid it´s just a matter of time before I start hating the new owners. American$ buying big football club on fire $ale. I wonder why...

Re: Club Refinance Thread

According to some guy on 5 live this guy has made the Red Sox the second most profitable outfit in America. Still underwhelmed.

Arsenal embarked on the stadium project from a very strong point in terms of their on field performance.

We must get there first to make it work like Arsenal did. We are in the relegation zone.

First priority should be to fight at the top end of the table.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

The fact that they're American doesn't bother me in the slightest. I think it's quite ridiculous that a whole nation should be tarnished by the actions of a couple of greedy businessmen. That's not to say that the new bunch aren't greedy businessmen too, but their suitability should not be determined by their nationality. There are cunts all over the world, in all walks of life.

So we're not getting a sugar daddy - big deal. I'd take a sustainable business model over the current debacle any day of the week.

The wallstreet journal link says the same...

NESV management team has a very successful track record, when it comes to making money.

It is quite a contrast to H&G, who both have mostly failed business on their resume....but they are still playing in the big league (it appears not for too long though), so they must have done something right.

Maybe the club can generate its own money, without the massive debt?

Well we are allowed to ahve two toughts in our heads at once. Of course the on field performance must shapen up. But But that someone is willing to buy us is probably not based on the last 5 matches, more the last five years or decades for that matter.

ANew owners must have a plan to rebuild the club and make money from it opreational, not just try to sell a brand and potential profit.

Too soon?

Too soon?? Nope.. Too late.....

Re: Club Refinance Thread

I'd be interested in hearing their plans for the club, particularly how they plan to drive the new stadium forward. After the H&G debacle, I'm very wary of American ownership.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

americans would be fine by me if they were wealthy, but this guy's worth less than H&G were. we are destined for prolonged uefa, at best, without proper investment.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

ummm, I think there is this legal suit to be settled with G&H first before we can be sold. It might take months if not years.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

After spending about half an hour reading about them, i have decided i like these guys...

I'll wait and see what happens now...i'm off this thread.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Wow, I missed all this last night, so just got up to an immense news day. A few thoughts:

1. Pursslow and Broughton are the heroes of the day. So not Satan incarnate after all. How puzzling...

2. The Yanks are (almost) dead, long live the Yanks. But it's really not a question of nationality. We are getting rid of our old toxic, debt-plagued owners and starting over. Of course, I felt the same about getting rid of Rafa and replacing him with Roy, and that hasn't worked out so well, but... Fuck it, I'm cautiously optimistic anyway.

3. I think it's a good sign that Rosco's in favour of this lot. I really don't understand economics or finance or LBOs or any of that shit at all, so I'm just going to put all my blind faith in some Irish lawyer who happens to post on the same football forum as me. And if it all goes wrong, I'll blame him.

4. Something had to change. And something has changed. That's good news, whatever comes afterwards...

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Well they're paying off the debt which is good.
I'm guessing they'll need to take out a bank loan to fund the stadium like Arsenal?
WOuld we need CL money every season to pay it off I wonder.

Oh this guy increased the home tickets of the Red Sox to the highest in the League.
ANd scouts undervalued players and doesn't give long contracts to older players(kinda like Wenger?).

Not sure how to feel, he has had success though. Not sure if American sporting success will translate to Premier League success.
