That is the bit I didn\'t like.

They still sell out for every single game. 81 home games in season btw.

I was going to mention there being a number of similarities between the Red Sox and us, the historic stadium being one of them as mentioned in the article.

I\'d be quite happy if Henry did take over. Anyone holding out for a benevolent billionaire is fooling themselves.

Dunno if I like the sound of this Baseball dude.

He's simply not rich enough, which probably means another leveraged buy out is on the cards.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Now it's actually come to this... going to Anfield has felt a lot like going round to your ex birds to pick up the CDs and Tshirts lately, a miserable event with memories of happier times but maybe the chance of the odd shag. I hadn't been able to think of her the same since she got a new fella, he's a right nobhead, but at least she wasn't a slut. Now she's about to get her knickers off for whoever will pay the rent, no matter who they are. It fucking stinks.

Even if he was rich enough a leveraged buy out would be more likely than not. Nobody is stumping up anywhere between 400 and 600m of their own cash to buy us.

He doesn't need to be a benevolent billionaire, but it would be nice to get someone with a bit of financial clout who wouldn't be crippled by a couple of wrong turns.

It sounds like from this that they will just try to squeeze as much as possible from the "franchise" to boost revenue to fund the team.
This just sounds all to familiar to the business model that H&G had, although I suppose if there wasn't interest payments of £50m odd to be made every year it might help.
Also I think H&G have increased the reevenue streams significently already and I doubt if there is much room for further increases, bar large increases in ticket prices etc.

If that's the case Rosco, then chances are this sale is going to be of absolutely no use to us.

Whoever buys us will just service the interest with the club's profits and wait for the Big pay day from the TV rights, then sell us on for a huge profit to whoever is the next to bite.

Well there is another Asian bid innit.

But my willingness to give a fuck is subsiding. It doesn't matter who buys us. The parts have been exposed and the sum ain't greater than them.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

I\'d agree Count, there isn\'t a whole lot of room for big increases in revenue, absent a new stadium. I saw people talking about TV rights \"reverting to the clubs\" or whatever but the Premier League TV rights situation can only be disbanded by a 2/3 majority (14 clubs in favour), it\'ll never happen because a lot of clubs won\'t be able to sell their rights on their own.

I don\'t think many people would appreciate the baseball approach to team building. Basically if you\'ve got a squad that isn\'t working out and you\'re horribly underperforming as a club you get rid of all your big earners, reinvest in youth and spend a couple of years getting your act together.

Most people won\'t like it, you\'ll here the usual nonsense about \"ambition\" and \"selling club\" but realistically if your hands are tied because of lots of shit decisions it\'s best to get rid, take your medicine and come back stronger rather than do what we did and struggle on even though it\'s patently not working.

I appreciate that a lot of the extra revenue generated coming from a new stadium is from the corporate sector, but the way things are going with other clubs, eg Man U selling season tickets again for the first time in years, we could end up spending a lot of money on a new 60k seater stadium that is often only three quarters full and not generating the anticipated matchday revenue.
Oh, and did I mention the £400m loan with the rather significant mortgage attached.
