LFC SOLD to NESV.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

I'll say this though.

If this comes off I really hope we keep our Chelsealovingcuntchairman at his job.

edit : Bennayoun has a torn Achilles tendon.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Wouldn't be a bad thing at all if Anfield could be redeveloped. I think the main worry about a new stadium is that it couldn't recreate the atmosphere generated at the current stadium.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Anfield could probably be redeveloped providing they threw enough money at it, or spoke to new contractors.

It's preferable to sharing with the bitters. Fuck that.

You don't know that.

Plus it sounds very unlikely. I'd love it if they could redevelop Anfield to accommodate 60k fans.
When they where orignally talking about building the new ground, moores and parry checked how viable it would be to redevlop anfield and they found that it would be more costly to redvelop than just building a new ground.
That was what 6-7years ago? Things could have changed a fair bit since them, in terms of construction innovation (I dunno) but maybe some moves have been made in terms of acquiring the land surrounding Anfield? I don't know obviously, but I'm certainly happy for the issue to be revisited to see if there is a way around it.
The way the ground is at the moment they cannot expand 3 of the stands, the only one which maybe viable is the main stand. Like I said the big problem is that they have to turn the entire ground around which is why it inccur huge costs. Around anfield it's a very tightly housed residential area. So unfortunatly you have to take the views of all the people that live there to.

The best thing that could happen for the area is that they move to stanley park.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Good news that the legal process can't drag on. If it's really all ratified before the Everton match, you'd have to be extremely happy and relieved. Well, unless your name was Brendan.

And then, step two: sack Hodgson.

I know this, if it ever costs £100 or more for 2 tickets to the match, then I'll never go another.
Which is does at most top premiership grounds by the way. Arsenal tickets start at about £48, I think.
Not most at all, it currently doesn't cost that for us and we are in the top 6 I think in terms of ticket prices. London clubs always have high ticket prices, the costs to watch low table Fulham/West Ham are ridicularse.

Good interview with a football debt expert named Stephen Schecter on SSN.

He's of the view that Henry is going to link up with Tom Werner also of NESV (he ofCasey-Werner) to aggressively market the club globally.

Also thinks that Henry will seriously consider groundshare possibilities.
Nothing will market the club more aggressively than success on the field. There are so many more questions than answers right now and I think Brendan's scepticism is justified. We went from two bidders to a successful bidder overnight, and the whole thing just seems rushed through and smacks of desperation.
I definitely agree with the first bit; about success on the field.

BUt I suppose I'm just desperate to see us being well-run again.

I'm not saying the current 3 are great, but if they're replaced I do hope we get some quality again.

Yeah, I can just imagine the due diligence and world-class expertise they ploughed into that research.

Parry and Dave sitting down with a pack of cards, some toilet roll tubes, a green crayon, cellotape and an abacus.

"Nope, can't be done!"

But wasn't this around the time they thought they could build a new stadium for 80 odd million?
I wonder if inflation happened equally on both avenues?

you'd be right. according to share liverpool plans the stadium could quite easily be redeveloped and with very little loss in revenue from stand closures, precisely because of innovations i the construction indutry.

i really hope this is the way they go. tradition and heritage matter, we should never forget that.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Martin Broughton

Yes, there's definitely a commitment to invest in a stadium and we will finish up with a 60,000+ seater stadium. Where they haven't finalised their view is whether that should be the new stadium or whether there are still opportunities to build at Anfield itself. They have done both. The people involved have built the new stadium at Baltimore Orioles, for example, and at Fenway Park they looked at the two options and decided that actually redevelopment with all of the tradition was better than a new stadium. So they have done both, they are committed to looking at both very professionally and seeing which is the best option, but there will be stadium development.

I'm happy enough with the options on the table.

I give Broughton his due, he has this assurance and authority about him and seems protective of his reputation. If He says keep the faith and that they are good owners, I'm inclined to if not trust him, then give him the benefit of the doubt. He's played H&G like a consummate professional.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Fuck the ground.

How much is in the kitty for player transfers?

Are we being promised Lady Gaga signings - or the usual 50 cent?

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

How much do you think a new stadium will cost? Three hundred million? At a cost of about thirty million a year in debt, or thereabouts? You think we're going to make more than an additional thirty million a year? That's another 1.5m per league game... so we have 15,000 more seats. So that's an average 100 quid more per new seat, or 25 quid more per all 60k seats, and that's filling it, just to break even. OK, say we sell another 20 boxes a game for an extra 5000 a box... it's bugger all, an extra 100,000 per match. Pissing in the wind. Just to break even we'd have to sell out and bump the tickets at least 20 quid on average.

True enough. I was just pointing out that Hodgson's going to be given a chance, rather than a quick impulse sacking which many desire. He might even be allowed to stay until January where he can spend a bit of cash, providing results pick up dramatically in the mean time.

It all depends on their intentions, I guess.

Bernie Mullins on SSN thinks there is a danger that NESV is looking to flip Liverpool.

Thatwould be really shity, in which case I doubt they'd care aboutho shitty Hdgson is doing.

If the're planning to resurrect our sorting prowess, I'd say Hodgson is fucked.

(on the plus side, Mulins is 'optimistic' about NESV since he thinks NESV have excellent credentials in managing sports entities)

I'll ignore the creative use of my user name, the issue is bigger than petty name calling, I'm not on anyone's side but the fact of the matter is we were sold the prospect of new owners with the brief of building a new stadium. That seems to have fallen by the wayside a little.

No new owners wold come in and sack the manager staright away, even one as unpopular and shit as Hodgson.

That said, if Chelsea and Man Shitty are anything to go by, "straight away" doesn't usually mean they've got very long, and they both had better managers in place than fucking Budgie.
