Grujic played like someone who doesn't think it's worth trying to impress anyone, presumably because he knows he's off asap - fair enough, but I'd rather have seen someone play who wanted to play. He didn't even look before shooting, that was a bit of a fluke.

Felt like a pre-season game at times, but job done, no injuries (except Shaq possibly pulled something) and some positive debuts.

Adrian – should have done better for the corner, but otherwise pulled off several key saves and overall this kind of game will help his sharpness.
Neco – have to agree with everyone, he's looking mediocre lately. Have to trust Klopp on this one.
Rhys Williams – looked more comfortable alongside Van Dijk than Fabinho, understandably. Not a bad debut, despite a couple of mistakes, good on the ball.
Tsimikas – very busy and involved, lots of good crosses. At times looked a bit lost defensively, but overall a good debut for sure.
Jones – baller, great goals and always tried to make things happen. I like how he pops up in unexpected areas like deep in LB territory, Milner does that too.
Minamino – should share MOTM award with Jones, he's looking faster and is making good decisions with the ball, great pressing and finishing.
Jota – pretty invisible. Let's not forget that he is coming on a low ebb of form when he's lost his starting place at Wolves. It will take a lot of Klopp hugs and time to bring him back into the killer mode.
Agree with all that but no Shaq.? He was my MotM.

Yeah but look at those thighs !

As I said, she's popular with virgins and the sex-starved. She spends ages on Twitter posting pics of herself in her underwear, then she complains about sexism in the media. She's a fucking idiot.

Meh, we were just so much better than Lincoln.
Looked like they didn't even want to be on the pitch in the first half.
Hard to judge anything based on this game.
Cool to see glimpses of what's to come regarding Tsimikas and Jota.
A few players didn't even bother and one just didn't look good enough. That's basically it.

MOM Shaq.
Followed by Curtis and Minamino.

Bring on Arsenal X 2.

Jota havent played any pre season games either, so he’s well off the boil.
Some nice touches and link up play.

Minamino and Jones outstanding.

Well that was entertaining yet strangely depressing, thanks to the horrible defending - without VVD the rest seem to have [hl]no idea whatsoever how to keep their shape and defend as a unit[/hl]. It also looked as though quite a few players don't trust Tsimikas - they were blatantly ignoring him for a pass late on.

Did not watch except the highlights, but....they are not unit and without VVD do not have a single player with significant experience as a Liverpool defender. 19-year-old Neco was the most experienced defender out there.

And, if Grujic was as unmotivated as all say, then they didn't even have any thoughtful protection in front of them.

Not worried by the reports.

We won 7-2 and gave debuts to two players, played youngsters and squad players. Loads of positives from individual performances.
Adrian, Neco, Williams, Fabinho and Tsimikas. Its no wonder they got a few chances at 5-0 and onwards.

FFS, nothing depressing or worrying about any of this. On to the next game.

I thought Neco was very disappointing in this match. Poor in both attack (crossing) and especially defensively.

Is it me or does he not move like a footballer? He looks like he's got no agility at all. Whenever he has to turn quickly he looks so fucking awkward, half the time he looks like he's gonna fall over.

I dunno, I can't see a Liverpool class of player in him.

No I thought similarly , he moved around the pitch like a fucking orc tonight !

Yeah, If we lose VVD and matip for any lenght of time then I don't fancy our chances in those games

For those who watched the game, how could we improve this "B-team" for the upcoming Arsenal clash in the Carabao Cup? With 3 days between the league game and the cup, surely both managers will field B-teams mid-week – but result will still be important. For the record this was Arsenal's team in the 2:0 win over Leicester in the CC 3rd round:

Looks pretty strong, to be honest. I think at a minimum we'll have to upgrade in defense and DM to match them.

I rewatched the first half and I have to say I was too harsh on Origi. He was making lots of runs and it's mostly on his teammates' that he was almost never found. BTW Rhys Williams after the game said that Divock told him to look for his inside-outside run and that's how Jones's 1st goal was created. A goal and an assist is never a bad game for a striker.

Some great goals. Curtis Jones is a huge talent, and Minamino is showing promising signs. Bit disappointing that Neco Williams appears to be a bit shit though.

I'd also like grujic to stay.

Seemed solid at the base, and didn't hide for passes

Personally I think Grujic is a ticking mistake filled time bomb ready to go off when you least expect it. Red card, game changing misplaced pass you name it.
He was just about OK yesterday imo, I could definitely see some rust, but we played against Lincoln city, he needs to be better.
I think the only reason he played was because Milner was injured.

Grujic is a good player. He was solid yesterday. Knows how to shield the ball, takes up the right positions in that holding role, and passes the ball positively.

I'm surprised there isn't more interest in him. He'd be a solid mid-table CM.

Neco on the other hand has had may be 2 decent games for us. I know Klopp loves him because he trains very well and has a great attitude, but I have big doubts about his talent level. Klopp put him at LB against Brighton towards the tail end of last season, and he had to hook him at half-time because he was getting rinsed. Then he started at RB in the Community Shield, and he got done by Aubameyang. Yesterday again, his defending was really poor. Often out of position, and constantly letting his man get space down the flank.

I'm also not a huge fan of him going forward. He's a willing runner, and reasonably quick, but he keeps flopping awkwardly while trying to switch the ball to the other foot. His crossing hasn't been particularly great either.

Are there any other good RBs coming through in the Academy? Or CMs who might transition to RB?

Ponderous was the word that came to mind watching Grujic. He just didn't seem to have the speed of thought/action for one of the toughest positions to play in the PL, rust aside. Even though he had a decent game that comes with the asterisk that is Lincoln. With the acquisition of Thiago there really isn't a place for him barring a horrendous run of midfield injuries.

I agree with most of that but I don’t see getting done by Aubergine as an issue. He is a quality player and has done that against players much better than Williams.

Indeed.
I thought the examples of him getting rinsed by Aubameyang and Lamptey were harsh as they both have done that to far more experienced full backs.
Aubameyang for ages and Lamptey recently and by doing so being possibly the hottest prospect in the league

Neco had several good performances last season, and Pep and Klopp sees him on the training field every day.
I think we as fans should let him get the time he needs to develop and trust the management teams assement.

He'll have some poor performances going forward, thats just the way it is.
